Good news AES,

Remember that trip to McIntosh Labs back in Oct? Remember the club's
old McIntosh MC275 that we traded to Audio Classics? Well, maybe some
of you do and some of you don't, but the important thing is that our
AES section now has an exquisite new amplifier - a McIntosh MA6900
(info).

When the Raspanti Critical Listening Room is finished, the amp will be
permanently stationed there, but until then, I'll be keeping it at my
apartment and hosting Music Meetings there so everyone can enjoy it.
The new Music Meetings will be held approximately every other week,
and will focus primarily on enjoying music through the MA6900, as well
as discussion of music and audio related issues.

The meetings will be an hour long, usually during the evenings, and
invitations will be sent out through the PSU AES Google Calendar
beforehand. Guests will need to confirm through the online calendar,
and since space is limited to 4 guests per meeting, you are encouraged
to confirm early. I haven't figured out a way to limit the number of
guests, so I'll just ask that you check the guestlist before
confirming, and make sure there aren't already 4 confirmed guests. If
you want to go, but you're not sure about plans, just click "maybe."
And if you want to go, but it's already full - sorry, you'll have to
wait until the next meeting!

Guests will also be encouraged to bring CDs (or mp3 players if
necessary, but make sure the bitrate is high folks!) or vinyl
records. That's right, I have a turntable set up for the analog fans
out there! Appreciating musical diversity is part of the goal here,
so please contribute - you don't just want to hear my tastes in music,
right?

Additionally, I'm hoping that other AES members will volunteer to host
Music Meetings at their own homes as well. So please contact me if
you want to show off some of your audio stuff, and I'll schedule a
meeting at your place!

This message has also been posted on the PSU AES Forum (Google Group),
so if you have any questions or suggestions, please post them there.
In fact, since this is a totally new idea and I'm still figuring out
how to manage this, your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The first Music Meeting will be scheduled for Mon, Feb 18 from 6-7pm.
An invitation will be sent out, so you can confirm through email or on
the calendar (although I'm still kind of figuring out how this works,
so let me know if you have any trouble).

I'm really looking forward to enjoying some music through a great
system with some of you guys!
