My name is Tetsuo and my roomate Brian and I got into a heated debate about
whether or not games such as Ridge Racer, VF2, Daytona USA and Killer Instinct
could be done on a PC. He thinks it could be done and better. I strongly dis -
agree with him and don't even think half of Ridge Racer could be done on a PC.
All I need is some other input from anyone of you guys on the net. I am aware
of the potential of a PC, but I am fully behind arcade video games and video
games on Sony PlayStation, NEC PC FX, Neo-Geo (Cart & CD), Sega Saturn and Nin-
tendo Ultra 64! The March issue of Game Fan said it best in Dave's editorial
zone: (not direct quote) "games on these platforms are bliss...Ridge Racer and
Daytona USA on a PC? For get it!"

"Forever a diehard video gamer and striving video game grafx designer",
Tetsuo (*_*)

I'm not familiar with Ridge Racer, but I do know VF2 amd KI. I would
to throw my vote in with you- these games can not be reproduced
on a pc. The arcade machines for games like these often use special
chips dedicated _just_ to 3d graphics and texture mapping, while a PC
has to take cycles away from other operations in order to perform these
function, and simply can't keep up.

Of course PC boards that include these special chips are on the way-
Matrox, I believe, is the name of one of the companies who makes them.
Right now now their cards have no support and are +$300 dollars, but
the software will follow as the prices drop.

But for today, arcade machines can out-grafx a PC hands down.

I've played Ridge Racer and Daytona USA; you couldn't do those games on a PC
that is currently on the market.

As a side note; I really wished that Ridge Racer had the "feedback" in the
steering wheel that Hard (& Race) Driving has.

I cast my vote in favor of that opinion.
