Hello Guilders:
Welcome to the new spring term. What a great weather day to kick it off! Unfortunately, it looks like we're not out of winter's doldrums yet. On a positive side, at least that means more cool planting weather.
I am writing to let you all know that our meeting time for Spring term will be Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. I cannot meet this week due to a prior commitment. I look forward to seeing all of you in the future weeks and will let you know about any happenings related to restoration as the term progresses.
A heads up on a few matters...The SER/AFS Conference is fast approaching. Please let me know now if you want to attend. We are filling the spots for the vehicle and need to sign up for our lodging and conference registration asap. The conference is from May 14th-18th which is during the 7th week of classes. Registration will be waived if we commit to volunteering during the conference. In addition, we will be receiving a $400 grant to cover ferry, fuel, and lodging. With hope, this will allow us to break even. Unfortunately, we cannot use SALP funds for travel out of the U.S. For more info about the conference check out:

We have a planting in the PSU Community Orchard this Thursday from 1-4 p.m. From 10 a.m.-1 p.m. will be the city sponsored Arbor Day celebration in the South Park blocks. We will be giving out Red-osier dogwood seedlings with care instructions and afterwards will plant them in different landscapes across campus on our way to the orchard. Come for all events.
I am migrating our Ecological Restoration listserve over to Google Groups. Please sign up at
psu-eco...@googlegroups.com if you haven't done so already. By the end of the term, you will no longer receive mailings if you fail to voluntarily sign up.
We are still hunting for a logo that captures the essence of what the PSU Ecological Restoration Guild is all about. We had some great suggestions and graphics that came out during last term's meetings. During the first few weeks we will look to digitize this logo for use in publications and signage. We can also have t-shirts made up.
Our restoration movie nights are being planned. Please feel free to email me at
keithn...@gmail.com with suggestions for great ecological films. I will let you know all the deets as the events approach.
-That's all folks.
