yO!!

Big thankyou to Ethan for creating this wonderful program!!!
it is really great, but there is one thing which has been annoying
me...
Almost everytime i start up pspseq the red cursor scrolls upwards
uncontrollably and cant be stopped.
sometimes it stops on its own after a while and then starts again
randomly. sometimes it scrolls diagonally ...anyway it makes it
impossible to enter events, has anyone else had this problem?
I know its not a problem with my psp as i can use lsdj and little
piggy tracker fine without any problems.
once again, thankyou to ethan for creating this, thats a lot of hard
work!! much appreciated bro!

Hi - that's unfortunate about the controls. It's probably an issue
with your analog stick (or to refocus the blame, how PSPSeq reads data
from the analog stick). The analog sticks are really buggy on PSPs.
To get into a bit of detail, the output values from the analog stick
range from -128 to 127 (see it's not really analog, just 256 different
digital values). When it isn't being used reading back the location
of the stick should return two zeroes. However, every PSP is
different and it might send back a small value like 10 for left/right
and -14 for up/down. My analog input handling function can deal with
some level of error in the output of the analog stick, but I'm
guessing your PSP goes beyond that threshold level.

If you press the analog stick in the opposite direction does PSPSeq
respond to that? Is your PSP very old?

This brings up and idea for a new feature; either a way to callibrate
PSPSeq to deal with these offsets or a way to change the range of
values that are ignored.

As for LGPT or LSDJ, do they use the analog stick? They might
completely ignore it which is why you're OK.

I had a problem with my analog stick too.  There's a program, I forget what, that will recalibrate it.  It might actually be in newer cfw.  Check out dl.qj.net and i'm sure you'll come across it.

thanks for the fast responses...
Ethan i think your right. nice one for the quick and detailed response.
Im going to check out the website with the analogue stick calibration program on it now.
ill post again shortly to report whether or not it worked.

(lsdj uses the joystick but its not having the same problem. probably the threshold for joystick error is higher).

thanks guys!!! much appreciated!!!

Here I think this is what you're looking for:

http://www.fx-world.org/wordpress/?p=41

Never tried it, don't know if it's designed to work with your CFW, so read the directions and use at your own peril.  ;)

thanks for the link to joysens...i would love to do the thing where the a-pad becomes a clone of the d-pad, or even just disable the a-pad completely.....anything so i can use pspseq without this problem. I could live with it even if there was no a-pad functionality at all...cant get joysens working though.

my system software is "5.00 M33-6".
Ive tried following the instructions in the readme file: creating the ms0:/SEPLUGINS/ folder and hard-rebooting while holding r-trigger.
I get into a menu that has a plugins sub-directory but when i look inside...nothing! dont know where im going wrong.
is there any other way to disable the a-pad? i bought the psp especially for using pspseq so this is kinda getting in the way.
thanks for all your help!! appreciate it!!!!

I tried using a version of the joysens program to make the a pad less
sensitive and I thought it worked at first, but after doing some
experiments I realized it was not working with pspseq. I had it
installed correctly and it worked with other programs, but not when in
pspseq. Maybe there is a new version that works or maybe it is my FW,
I don't know, but the one I tested didn't work in pspseq. Luckily my
A pad is not that bad, it is just really sensitive to up and down
movements, which is not good when you are trying to move left or
right.

you may have to replace the a-pad.
