Greetings,

I'm looking for help learning Earthworm to control the MOHO/Shark digitizer running as a cape on the Beaglebone Black with the original Debian Shark image.

Information is scarce on how to control the digitizer and access to all the available features and filters.

If there's a community of users with different skill levels and knowledge, I'd like to propose organizing a video conference to share information and best practices.

 Would anyone be interested?

Thank you,

Dave Buckowski

Speaking of that, has the MOHO build been documented? If so, I would love to build one!

Hi Jonathan,
I believe you may be talking about Angel's MOHO Pro seismograph?
Angel can answer this as I am waiting to odera couple as well.

The 3 channel TerraShark is also MOHO Tres.

Hi Everyone,

Yes, we have a new front end for the MOHO Tres ADC.  It will do some and the image is public, but the best way to understand what is going on is from the command line using ssh.  I will ask Yunior, the author of the front end to give me a public link and will post some instructions on how to get it going.  I know that several people in the group are good at the USGS Earthworm.  I am also willing to do some sort of live stream of the basics either on Youtube or ZOOM.  I am at UTC -5 so we can pick the best time of day and what day to start so that I can get organized.

This will all be Linux based so Windows users should install the Ubuntu for Windows that Microsoft provides.

So let's all agree on a time and date.

Cheers,

Angel

Hi Dave,

Merry Christmas

When is a good time for you and I to spend a while on the MOHO Card.

I think that we would need Anydesk on your computer and Whatsapp on your phone.

We could talk to each other while I guide you in configurations

I prefer linux but windows with the ubuntu subsystem would be fine, wwe will be using ssh to do everything.

Cheers,

Angel

Hello Angle and Merry Christmas to you and all.

Bob Beer has been so kind to set me on the right path.
I would like to hear from you next week and will get in contact next week.

I have just completed building a Moho and am working on a narrative of my experience.  Stand by!

Hi Angel,

Is there documentation on building a MOHO available? Your 3-channel BBB digitizer has been working quite well for me with Guralp sensors.

Thanks.

Hi Jonathan,

Are you referring to MOHO PRO the Force Balanced vertical broadband?

I have some stuff on how to assemble it.  I will have to look once I am back in the shop on Jan 5th.   You can get it as a kit or prebuilt.  The PRO cards are in customs here and I will make up a price for the boards and spring only, a whole kit and a built up unit.

I should make some YouTube for the build, something I have never done before, but should learn to do.

Happy new year to all,

Angel

Here's a short description of what I did and how regarding building a Moho:

-acquired 3D printer files from Angel
-printed all parts using a Creality Ender 5 Plus 3D printer and Tough Pro PLA+ filament from 3D-Fuel
-placed 6-32 threaded inserts into printed parts where indicated

-acquired Hardware BOM from Angel and ordered all from McMaster-Carr
-acquired spring, special hardware, magnets, steel keepers, etc, and all boards from Angel and Dave Nelson

-photos from Angel and Dave of Moho seismometers they'd build helped a lot in figuring out what went where and how.
-troubleshooting help from them was invaluable!

-next up is connecting the Moho to a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and BabyShark one-channel digitizer.

I suggest a review of this article on broadband seismometer design:  http://www.software-for-seismometry.de/textfiles/Seismometry/BroadbandDesign.pdf

As background, I have two Guralp seismometers (CMG-40-T 1-second and 50 Hz - 120 second) using the TerraShark and BabyShark digitizers.  I use a BeagleBone Black and a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, both running Debian OS and Earthworm software.

Hi Angel,

Yes, that’s what I’m referring to. I’m definitely interested! What is the cost for a kit and what is the cost for a preassembled unit?

Thanks!

Hi Jonathan,

I will have the price for the four or five kit we will offer

1. just the boards
2. boards and printed parts
3. All of the parts needed
4. Assembled and tested

To any of the kits you will need some sort of digitizer and of course I recommend the MOHO ADC you will also need an hermetic enclosure.

Cheers and Happy New Year,

Angel

Hi Bob,

Happy New Year to everyone.

I am assuming that the sensor is just out in the open and the normal air currents are making those huge swings.  If so it does look great!  Congratulations.

You're right, Angel.  It's on the bench out in the open.  What enclosure do you recommend?

Thanks!  It's a very fun project.

Angel, is the Moho just resting inside the box or did you attach it to the box?  Any leveling screws anywhere?

Hi Bob,

Mty MOHO PROs are on an aluminum plate in the box and the box is on a leveled square of granite.  I think Dave might do it differently.
