Public Health Foundation of India’s Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar (Ahmedabad) with support from NIOH (National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad) & GMER’s Sola Medical College Proposes to offer the 3 month AFIH course to M.B.B.S. doctors.
Occupational and Industrial Health is an important branch of medicine that brings together expertise from medicine, engineering, toxicology, psychology and several other disciplines. It combines clinical medicine and public health.
Doctors with occupational health background and training have risen to the highest levels in the corporate world as well as PSUs and occupy the positions of medical director at major companies. Occupational Health thus offers an exciting and rewarding career path along with clinical practice possibilities.
AFIH: A 3 month full time course regulated by DGFASLI (Director General of Factory Advisory Services & Labour Institutes, Govt. of India). As per Factories Act / Rules, this is a mandatory qualification for doctors working in hazardous industries. Other industries also prefer to hire AFIH qualified doctors.
This qualification fulfills the requirements in Factories' Act / Rules for appointment as Factory Medical Officer all over India.
Eligibility for admission: MBBS degree with a minimum of two years’ experience after completion of internship.
Candidates attached to factories / industries or with industrial experience would be given preference.
Expert faculty, adequate practical training, industry exposure and hands-on experience shall be the hallmark of this course.

Course fees: Rs. 35000/- for industry / officially sponsored doctors; Concessional fee of Rs 25,000/- for self-financed candidates. Hostel accommodation shall be arranged for outstation candidates on extra payment.
IIPHG / PHFI shall offer placement guidance to participants in need of such support.
