Honoring Extraordinary Women in Medicine at AMSA 2011 Convention & Exposition

The Women Leaders in Medicine awards recognize female physicians and educators who serve as role models, teachers, highly accomplished professionals, and sources of inspiration for the next generation of medical leaders. Nominated by their own medical students, these extraordinary mentors have earned recognition for their exceptional achievements and their dedication to fostering health care, equality in care, and professional opportunity for women and men.

Join us the evening of Friday, March 11, to recognize and celebrate these leaders in medicine. A partial list of this year’s honorees includes:

  • Dr. Gloria Bachmann, obstetrics/gynecology, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
  • Dr. Margaret Bia, internal medicine, nephrology, Yale University School of Medicine
  • Dr. Grace Rozycki, chief of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care, Department of Surgery, Emory University School of Medicine
  • Dr. Susan Wood, past assistant commissioner for Women’s Health and director of the Office of Women’s Health at the Food and Drug Administration
  • Dr. Jane H. Brice, M.P.H., associate professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of North Carolina
  • Dr. Lynne Richardson, associate professor, emergency medicine; associate professor, Health Evidence and Policy, Mount Sinai School of Medicine

AMSA Leader Today—Physician Leader Tomorrow

The annual convention offers each member of AMSA the chance to become more involved in the organization. Unlike any other medical student organization, AMSA is where you don’t have to wait for your degree—you can lead now!

AMSA depends on dedicated student leaders to devote their extracurricular time and energy on their responsibilities as national leaders. Each leadership position varies greatly with respect to responsibility, time commitment and previous experience required. However, each requires a good working knowledge of our organization, dedication and excitement for AMSA.

Click here now to learn about the positions available, as well as the election and application process. AMSA is your organization—get involved and have your voice heard!
