Hi every one,
I'm Eric Freyens, programmer from previous century, I need to use my new board buy at FOSDEM 2026, on my Kali linux. I install pslab package, but the board are not found.
(lsusb -> Silicon Labs CP210x UART Bridge)
1. Into a app you must put version into help / about.
2. pslab appli don't give in information on command line, for example pslab -v, don't give version.
Where can I found the protocol for communicate with board pslab v6 ?
Thanks for your help.
Best regard
Eric

Hello Eric,

The first one is an outdated application which is not developed anymore. The second one is the new cross platform application which works on my system. I am using Debian Testing which should AFAIK be pretty close to Kali, at least in theory.

We need to update the documentation in several places to prevent people from using the outdated version.

In case you need to read values from the board, the Python library (https://github.com/fossasia/pslab-python) may be useful for you. There is also a repo with a "getting started" in Jupyter Notebook format: https://github.com/fossasia/pslab-notebooks

You are right about the version. We don't have a command line option for it yet and there is a bug which prevents the version being displayed in the UI. I have created tickets for that.

Since I only work on the application side and not on the HW/FW side, I am not sure if there is a documentation of the communication protocol. I know that the communication layer of the app was modeled after the Python library. If that is not sufficient for your purposes, please let me know and I can try to get more information from the firmware developer.

Best regards,
Marc
