Over the last few days there have been problems in the afternoon getting the map to update. I *think* that the cause is an application that was making lots of requests at the same time. I have temporarily blocked it and things appear to be returning to normal.

I've blocked someone else. If you are using the query interface programmatically, then please consider what you are doing and how it may be affecting other users. In many cases, using the service at https://www.mqtt.pskreporter.info is a better option.

Having said that, there is work in progress to try and improve the capacity of the system, but this will take some time -- so the only immediate path that I have to maintain the existing system is to block access when someone (or someone's software) is causing problems.

I've tuned the rate limiting a bit so that the people who were hammering the server now get a 503 response quickly. These are nearly all programmatic access (the queries are not those issued by the map page, and the user-agent strings are (mostly) not standard browser strings). If you are now being blocked, then please look at the mqtt feed to see if it meets your needs.

It seems to be better now.

Sorry for all the issues -- I really want things to be working for Field Day this weekend.

As an example, there are currently ~400 people using a python script to access the pskreporter service. They all make the same query:

/query?mode=FT8&flowStartSeconds=-900&rronly=1&noactive=1&rptlimit=5000

Happily, each endpoint only makes 1 request every 15 minutes, but times 400 is significant. I suspect that what the author actually wanted was to find out about FT8 activity and there is much better approach to doing that -- just use the mqtt stream.

In practice, this query is not too bad as the result of the query can be cached and served to most of the clients.

Hi Phil

Do you need help to maintain PSK Reporter? I might help (I specialize in large-scale database architecture). If you need help/relay/advices, well I can do something
