Dear Philip Gladstone,

Having trouble with PSK Reporter showing my location in Washington CM85om sometimes which I am not, when I am actually in California at the time etc. My actual GRID or LOCATOR  is CM99kf. My Callsign is WA6TWJ David Mauldin Rough and Ready, CA. USA.

Thanks for you help in advance.

P.S. Sometimes it just doesn't show me at all on the map. Not sure why? I sent you another notice around March 1, 2016. Still have not heard an answer and the problem persists. Thanks and  please advise.

I have updated your current location to be in California. The problem
here is that pskreporter has various ways of finding out your location,
and this isn't easy. The *best* way is to run a piece of monitoring
software that reports signals. These all have the capability to report
your current location. The other way that happens is when someone
reports a QSO which includes your locator -- this is used to update your
current location. JT65 reports locators, but they are only four
characters -- this adds more confusion into the mix.

Dave, I'm amazed at how it all actually works, considering the possibilities for error.  Can you get location info from the client reporting program such as FLDIGI or WSJT-X, etc?  I note that the antenna info manages to propagate to PSKreporter -- which I find extraordinarily useful, by the way.  Seems then users would have input about where they are located -(but maybe you don't want that!)  How does the piece of monitoring software you mention actually work?

Really enjoy your creation!

I like to see reports from my grid square.  Then look who is getting to where I can't seem to reach.  Look at their reports and see what antenna they are using, if they are kind enough to report it. Then try to emulate them.  Now I'm one of those that get out when other don't!!  I give you a lot of credit.
Cheers,
Gary

Are you actually getting received, anywhere?  I tried a CQ TEST de kc0edo, and with my compromise antenna, a COMET CHA250xB that's known to eat the first 5-10 watts I was recived from EN34js to Europe with my rf level at 10% with ham radio deluxe...  surprised the heck outta me!  If you know that you're confingered properly, talk to someone about bring an antenna analyzer over

just a thought

Just set your full 6 character locator in your wsjt-x program and it should fix itself. Currently it appears that you have EN70 entered there...
