HI

We currently have a few of our users locked in Macola.  I suppose over the years of crashing with Macola open or so.  We only have 1 or 2 users at the most in Macola but 4 out of the 5 users allowed are locked so we can only have one person in at a time.

Didn’t know if there was an easy way to unlock or clear the lock users.

Thanks Justin

I found this. Hope it helps

  • In Macola, if a user account is locked, it might be due to several failed login attempts or specific security settings
. To unlock a Macola user, you generally need administrative access to the system or database.
Here's how you might unlock a Macola user, based on the information available:
    1. Access the Macola User Management/Security Settings:
    • If you're using a web-based interface like Macola InterConnect, navigate to the security settings within the application.
    • If you're working directly with the Macola database (often a SQL database), you might need to access tables related to users and security.

    2. Locate and Unlock the User Account:
    • In application interface: Look for a section or menu where you can manage user accounts. Find the specific user that is locked. You'll typically find an option to "unlock" the user, which might involve unchecking a "Is Locked" option.
    • In the database (e.g., using SQL): You might need to query the database table containing user information (e.g., "Syspass_sql" in Macola Progression) to identify the user and potentially modify a field to unlock the account. However, be extremely cautious when directly manipulating database tables, as this requires advanced knowledge and could lead to data corruption if not done correctly.

    3. Resetting the Password (if necessary):
    • If the user was locked out due to forgotten password, you may need to reset their password as well. In some Macola versions, there might be a "set password" option within the user management interface.

    4. Consider the Cause of Lockout:
    • If the user is getting repeatedly locked out, there might be other underlying issues causing the problem, such as:
      • Scheduled tasks or services running with old credentials.
      • Mapped drives with incorrect credentials.
      • Mobile devices or active sync devices with outdated passwords.
      • Stored usernames and passwords that are outdated.

    Important Notes:
    • The exact steps for unlocking a user in Macola can vary depending on the specific version and configuration of your Macola system.
    • Always ensure you have appropriate administrative privileges before attempting to unlock a user account or modify system settings.
    • If you are unsure about any of these steps, it's highly recommended to consult with your Macola administrator or support team.

    For more specific guidance, consider:
    • Checking the official Macola documentation or support resources for your version.
    • Consulting with your IT support team or a qualified Macola professional.

This information is for general guidance. If you're experiencing a persistent issue, contacting your Macola support team is the best course of action.

It has been a while since this has happened to us but here is what we did the last time:

  1. Have everyone exit Macola.
  2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the network location of your application files then find:  \\macsql\users
  3. In that folder will be two files for each locked user, a .tmp & .cfg
  4. I’m looking at my folder and I have one extra locked user. These happen when the Macola doesn’t exit clean from a program or Windows crash.
  5. Cut and paste all of them to your desktop (I always want a way to back out in case I’ve made a mistake)
  6. Have your users log back on to Macola.

Hi Andy,

That worked Perfectly.  Some of these locked users were from 2016.

Thank you so much for your help on this issue.

Thanks Justin
