I'm currently stuck in Step 5 of Quick Start (https://psiturk.org/quick_start/). When I first launched the server, everything went well and I was able to debug the setup example. However, when I closed psiTurk shell, reset the working directory to another experiment folder, launched psiTurk shell from there, I was unable to turn on the server, and the error is:

"[psiTurk server:blocked mode:sdbx #HITs:0]$ server on
Another process is running on the desired port. Try using a different port number."

Then I closed psiTurk shell, changed the working directory back to psiturk-example, and attempted to turn on the server. Same error again!

Did anyone encounter this problem? How did you solve it?

Thanks!

It would appear that your server is still running from your last session -- you didn't do a clean exit. Try `pkill -f psiturk` from terminal and try again.

Or, like it says, just change your port number for the new experiment in config.txt.
