I'm ready to put my old six year old CRT monitor in the grave, and was
looking to buy an LCD.
I guess.
I've been looking at a 20.5 inch Viewsonic pro model---which runs
around $ 430 bucks online.
A few illustrators are telling me to just grab one from Sam's club for
$ 250-that basically they're all the same and will be a vast
improvement over my dying CRT, as far as clarity and contrast.
Others have told me to go much better than the Viewsonic spending in
the $ 800 range to have all the features that I'll need.
Something about less of a chance of having ' dead pixels' on the
screen and the ability to arrive at better color calibration.
Until now, I just calibrated my monitor with the built in calibration
wizard---pretty primitive--and it seems fine for my needs.
My theory is that once a file is sent, the final results are pretty
much out of my control anyway.

Anyone happy with their LCD monitors that they would recommend?
Thanks
george

Hey George, I'm not sure about how much money you need to spend but I
recently bought a 19" Samsung that I am very happy with. One thing I
have heard is to stay away from the Viewsonic because they have
tendency to not last very long. I know of one person who bought one
and it only outlasted the 1 year warranty by about a month.

Thanks Craig!
I've heard of other people having problems with Viewsionic as
well....great picture, but they don't last long.
Those are out.
I was actually considering a Samsung as well that I saw online.

I was wondering if you could do me a favor ...measure your image area
across the top and down ...I want to at least match what I have now,
and a 19 '' may do it.
Some online specs don't include that, and some are more horizontal
than others, losing the depth.
( My 19"' CRT has an actual viewing area of 14 1/2 " across, 11"
down...)

Thanks
george
