Psi 1.3 is released

Hi Psi users!

I'm proud to announce next Psi release.

Version 1.3 is bugfix release and probably the last one with Qt4 support. Though if someone wants more, feel free to contribute!

Changes:

  - Fixed connection to Openfire server

  - Fixed connections by IP (fixes socks file transfer as well)

  - Fixed compilation with new version of Enchant

  - Fixed broken file transfer after reconnection

  - Minor UI fixes

Next relase 2.0 is planned to have:

  - SQLite based history + server-based history (MAM)

  - Voice messages

  - Voice/video calls fixed and stabilized.

I hope we can release it this year.

I'm happy to learn that Psi is still evolving. Alas, some GNU/Linux distributions, like LinuxMint, Ubuntu & Debian, are still proposing the old 0.15 version, and not every GNU/Linux user is able to install a program from its sources.
So… can we hope to see a .deb package proposed, or at least to see someone propose the latest version of Psi in their PPA?

This is great news! I used PSI briefly years ago, but then it seemed to fizzle out and I moved on. I think I moved away because I badly wanted open protocol voice/video calling. Now I use SIP instead for that, so I'm more flexible on an XMPP client.

I'm currently using Gajim, because it has the most advanced XEP support that I NEED. In particular:

(i) XEP-0280 [Message Carbons].

(ii) XEP-0313 [ Message Archive Management], on group chat / conference room also.

(iii) XEP-0363 [HTTP File Upload].

I use ejabberd on the backend on my own server. However there are some issues I have with Gajim, mostly UI, aside from the fact it's GTK instead of my preferred Qt. I liked the UI of PSI (IIRC). And I like the idea of an XMPP focussed IM client for power users. But I need the UI to work for regular users (dummies) too. And to top it all off, easily deployable factory configurations for our corporate desktop / workstation rollout (based on Linux).

Does PSI have support for these 3 XEPs?

IIRC only XEP-0280 is supported for now. Other two are in plans.

It's on toolbar.  But as far as I remember the toolbar is disabled by default.

Maybe someone will add it to the main menu as well. I'll accept this pull-request.

2.0 уже близко. я буквально сегодня закончил пилить одну из фич, требуемую для голосовых сообщений, которые я обещал к следующему релизу.

Немного отшлифую и поправлю ещё звонки.

Вот MAM пока в непонятном состоянии.
