FWD: PS9 PTA Nominations & Elections - Tomorrow!

Hi everyone,

Tagging onto Charmaine's email, I'd like to give my strong support to anyone stepping up to the PTO or SLT tomorrow night.

We're closing in on the end of a great year, with tremendous momentum going into the 2010-11 year. And if we choose to take the reins as a community, we have these two powerful governing bodies within PS 9 through which we can make amazing things happen next year, building on this year's successes and setting us up for many years of the same. 

You all probably already know, but just in case: the SLT (School Leadership Team) is the body of parents, staff and administration that works through academic issues for the school. The PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) has the potential to be a fundraising powerhouse, a school community builder, and support for the school overall.

Wouldn't it be great if we could rival the PTOs and SLTs of the schools we all admire? We all know these organizations are the linchpins of excellent schools and can be of PS9. If, as a community, we can make them work to the fullest extent of their possibility, we'll be doing so much for our own kids and for the entire PS 9 community.

I know we can't all step up, and we do what we can for the school in our own ways. But for those of you have an inkling of serving on the PTO or SLT this coming year, please know you won't be hanging out there in the wind all by yourselves - you'll have great support and many hands in making your service a great success.

Parents running for an office will be present to let voters know about themselves and their interest in running for office.



Additionally, School Leadership Team Elections and District Parent Advisory Council will take place on 6/09/2010
