Upcoming dates and events and Peace First update

Dear Families,

Just a reminder that money for the Green Meadow Farms and Hall of Science is due tomorrow.

We are also looking for chaperones for the trips.

Permission slips for all other trips will be coming in the next couple of weeks. Please make sure to adhere to all deadlines for money as we have to usually pay all organizations by a certain date.

Here are the dates for the trips again.

May 24- Green Meadow Farms- $8 for each person (adults must pay)
May 26- Central Park Rangers- Free (rescheduled from earlier in the year) (PTA sponsored)
May 31- Hall of Science- $6 for each child (adults are free)
June 2- Museum of Natural History - Free
June 10- China Institute- $4 per child adults are free
June 14- Staten Island Ferry- Free
June 17- Judy Moody the Movie- cost still to be determined
June 24- Field Day- Central Park- (potentially cost of t-shirt)

These are just a tentative list of dates. They are subject to change. We may also be adding more trips.

Our class is also doing a toiletry drive for the homeless. We are looking for travel size donations to be brought in by May 25. This is part of our Peace First Service Project. The students have been working very hard of learning about the homeless in NYC and are excited about holding this drive.

Dear Families,

Earlier this week we sent home a permission slip for three trips. These trips are Museum of Natural History on June 2, China Institute on June 10 and Staten Island Ferry on June 14. The Museum of Natural History and Staten Island Ferry are free trips. However, the China Institute trip does cost $4.00. The deadline for this money was today however we will be collecting money on Tuesday as the last day. The reason for this is we usually have to pay for programs ahead of time. Most places require payment be made 2 weeks prior to the trip. This is also the reason that we can't refund the money for a trip usually as the location we are going to usually will not give back the money if someone is missing.

Also note that we do have a trip to the NY Hall of Science on Tuesday. We will be leaving school at 8:40 am and returning at 2:40 pm. It is important that your child not be late for school as we will be leaving very early. Your child will also need lunch that day. Please make sure the lunch is in a sturdy bag as we will be traveling on the train to Queens.

Please note that we do not have school on Monday, May 30.

Dear Families,

I regret to inform you that our trip to the Staten Island Ferry is cancelled. Due to end of the year mandates we will not be going on Tuesday, June 14.

Hi,

Tomorrow, June 17, we will be going to see Judy Moody at Lincoln Center. We are still waiting on several permission slips and money. Please make sure to send it in by tomorrow. Students will need lunch.

On Tuesday, June 21, we will be going to the Peace First Festival at the Jacob Javits Center. We will be leaving around 9:15 and returning about 2:30. Students will need lunch.

We can use chaperones for both trips. If you would like to chaperone please let us know. The Peace First trip is free for all but the Judy Moody movie will cost $6 for each person.

Please keep an eye out for the Field Day permission slip for June 24.

We have two trips left this year. We have our Peace First trip tomorrow and Field Day on Friday. We need parents to help out with both trips. You can come to one or both. We will be leaving by 9:30am and returning by 2:30pm for both trips. Permission slips will be going out today for Field Day.

Hi,

A final reminder that tomorrow is the Third Grade Field Day. We are monitoring the weather very closely and will make a decision about it tomorrow. In case the weather calls for rain we will do a game day in school. We are asking that you monitor the weather and if it is supposed to rain all day to send a board game with your child. No video games please.
