Attached, please find the flyer for the Manhattan Rally to Save After-School this Tuesday, May 31^st from 4:00-5:30pm at The Children’s Aid Society’s Milbank Community Center (all info is in the flyer).    

 

Please spread the word, come out and help us save after-school!  We would love to have more than 200 youth, parents and providers show how important this issue is to our communities.

 

At the rally, there will be youth, parent and staff speakers, an explanation of the cuts and opportunities to sign petitions/give written and video testimonies about why after-school is so important. 

 

If you know of anyone who would be a good youth, parent or provider speaker, please let me know ASAP.

Good Afternoon Coalition-

 

 

Our next meeting will take place this Wednesday, May 25th, at 10:00am at Educational Alliance (197 East Broadway, Room U7). Please RSVP to Reva Gaur atReva...@edalliance.org  no later than the close of business on the 24th (tomorrow).

 

We have over 1,100 signatures on the online petition! I know we have been acquiring paper petitions as well. Please reply to this email with the approximate number of paper petitions that your organization has collected. We would like to have an estimate of total signatures to date, to determine how far we are from our goal of 17,000 signatures. We will HAND them in at THE YES FOR YOUTH press conference/rally in June so please continue to collect them.

ü  Queens OST Rally Flyer:  The RALLY is TOMORROW, TUESDAY, MAY 24!!  We need as many people there as possible. We cannot stress enough the importance of turnout for this event. It is important that advocates come out to the meeting Wednesday considering the upcoming advocacy events, AND THE IMPORTANT WORK TO DO OVER THE COMING WEEKS IN LOBBYING THE COUNCIL. We will also have a recap of the Youth hearing and the press conference.
