Hello Everyone from Sonia Bennett,

Your help is needed to call and leave a message for the Mayor at 311. The Educational Alliance group handed out a sheet with these instructions.  Please follow and make the call.  Ask your friends and family to help also.  The budget will be finalize by the Mayor next week.  I heard on the news that some members of the citycouncil sent the Mayor a letter asking him to save the programs. 

  

PLEASE LOG ON TO THIS WEBSITE AND SEND A LETTER TO THE MAYOR:- www.edalliance.org.  We can get our funding back if we act now by calling and signing the petiton online. By call the Mayor will realize how many of us really need the program.  Pass on the information to friends and family.

Dial 311 & Urge The Mayor to Save Our Youth

311 Calling Guide - What to Expect

1.  Be prepared to spend 3 to 4 minutes on a call to 311.  When you are connected to a live 311 representative, say that you have an "Opinion for the Mayor"

The message should be:

 "I am calling to urge the Mayor to restore ALL funding for the Out of School Time (OST) after school program.  The Out of School Time program provides a vital support for working parents and helps our youth succeed. Eliminating an estimated 17,000 Out of School Time after school slots will affect thousands of New York City families. This cut must be restored."

 2. Feel free to add to this basic message, with your own personal story about why OST programs are important to you.

 3. After taking your message, the 311 representative will ask for your name, phone number, e-mail, and address.  The City will then forward you a confirmation e-mail with a confirmation number.  The 311 rep may also tell you your confirmation number over the phone.  Calls will then be forwarded to the Mayor's Office.
