Hello Everyone,
 
I received an interesting call from one of the Deputy Commissioners at  DYCD.  She was responding to an email that I had sent to Commissioner Mullgrav about having our funding restored. I was told that she did not know if our funding will be resorted and that I will be contacted as soon as she gets an answer.
 
I would like our parents to email the Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav to help convince her  to have Imani House Afterschool funding restored.  Please remember to put that (1) MS/PS 282 is a Titled One School   (2)  it is an unzoned school and (3) mention the area that you live, especially if you live outside of Park Slope.
 
Please contact your councilman and ask him/her to give the Commissioner a call on behalf of Imani House.

I really believe we will get the funding back if we all unite and write and call.
 
A special thank you to the parents who have already written and called.  I am asking the parents in the program who have not yet called or written a letter to do so now.  The budget is now being reviewed by the city council members.  SO LETS ACT NOW!!!!!

Dear Parents - Just a couple of reminders

  • IMPORTANT Parent's Meeting Tomorrow - May 17 - 5:45 -7:00pm

  • Registration for Next year - Please pick up your application if you plan to attend the program
    •  At this point it is a paid program - 
    •  We are hopeful of more parent involvement
    •  Fundraising is going forward in support of next year - We are working to raise $10,000 in order to qualify for a $5,000 Challenge Donation!

  • Raffle count down - There is about 3 weeks left - Please give your friends and colleagues opportunities to win the iPad2 or other great gifts and help the after-school program in the process - We are asking each parent to sell at least 2 books - See Ms. Hager to take part 
    • For those friends who don't want an iPad, they can donate their tickets to the children. 2010 saw over 300 donated tickets for children 

  • CAMP IMANI - Applications are up and running - It promises to be a great camp experience for your children - 
    • Don't leave your children's entertainment to the TV for the summer 
    • Limited space - We plan to keep the size small 
    • ALL Payment are due by June 30th.  Please call if you have questions 718 638-205

  • Performance Schedule - June 10th / Includes Raffle Drawing  
    •  We are looking for parent volunteers to help with management and sales (fundraising) at the event

  • A Bus Outing (fundraiser) to Atlantic City is in the draft stages.  Please let Ms. Hager, or Ms. Meadows or me (im...@imanihouse.org) know if you are interested

  • YDP - Paid program, please remember to make payments for May.  There is no payment due for June, 2011

Addition:  The T-Shirt Committee has approved the design and we will be ordering the shirts soon. I'd like to thank those Parent Fundraising Committee members for sticking to their words and working hard to improve the program and raise funds.  Thanks.  SB
