Hi.
There is alot of activity happening at PS261 as usual...so just some tidbits below for you to pass on to other parents in the classroom, if you don't mind.
1) POETRY NIGHT:
Wednesday, April 25th at 6pm is Poetry Night at Barnes & Noble (106 Court St., Brooklyn) -- Open Mic is at 6pm for students to read their on poems. Vouchers are going home in backpacks (and attached) -- proceeds from any books purchased with the voucher go to PS261).
2) POEMAGINATION publication:
Poems and art work from students are
due by May 7th to be included in the school publication "Poemagination." The goal is to include include work from every child as individuals and/or as part of a classroom project. Submissions in any format can be dropped off in the POEMAGINATION box in the office, or to either
ab...@zcostudio.com or
alic...@alicepeck.com.
3) MAY 18th TALENT SHOW HELP NEEDED:
Permissions slips poured in from students for the May 18th PS 261 Talent Show and the students are getting really excited. Already several parents have organized publicity and auditions.
YOUR HELP IS VERY MUCH NEEDED leading up to this popular evening event to...
1) Purchase/get donations of refreshments & sell them May 18th
2) Sell ahead of time and at the door tickets for this usually sold out event
3) Operate the stage curtains
4) Set-up & operate stage lighting
5) Set-up and operate stage sound system
If you can help out or know someone who might be tempted, please pass the word on and contact Carla Lino (carl...@yahoo.com and cell: 646-436-2476), the Social Committee chair. You can also just leave a note in the PTA mailbox in the main office.
4) FINALLY---PS261 PTA is in need of a few good women and men to keep the
good work we're all doing organized and on-track for next year. NOMINATIONS close May 3rd -- and we need you!!! It is easy to nominate yourself or someone else:
b) Drop a note in the PTA nominations mailbox (in the main office)
c) Speak to a member of the nominating committee: Beth Bacon, Robin Alfani or Joan Moogan.
Speaking as a current Co-Pres, it's not brain surgery. Give it a try! You meet terrific and inspiring folks at PS261.
