Subject: Urgent distribution-Queens Family Museum Project

Good Morning Everyone:

Some of you may be familiar with the Family Museum Project that the Office for Parent Engagement initiated for families last year. As an obvious next move, especially because of the region wide success that it had, I am implementing this as a borough initiative again this year with the Office for Family Engagement and Advocacy.

Attached you will find a brief booklet which contains some tip sheets for a museum trip as well as the passes themselves. Our museums this year have opted to make their passes available at a variety of times throughout the school year. Therefore, after receiving passes from time to time, families must take strict notice of the time frames for which they are being offered. Please note that the pass for the South Street Seaport Museum is valid only during this winter recess. All families of children in Queens are eligible to use these all these passes as well as educators themselves in their efforts to align their work with the curriculum. Feel free to distribute these documents electronically as they have been created as pdfs in order to protect the integrity of the project. In addition, the 3 pages that help families prepare for their museum visits have been translated in the 8 major languages to support our ELL families.

I sincerely hope that you find this initiative not only enjoyable, but helpful as well. The Office for Family Engagement and Advocacy strives to support the creative work that emulates from our schools. Enjoy these passes and take advantage of these rare opportunities.
