Itoo use Airport Extremes. My recommendation, if there is no compelling need for IPv6 on your network (and there rarely is), disable IPv6 by selecting Link-Local. This will greatly simplify your network management and avoid a number of potential IPv6 issues that may puzzle you greatly.
I spend quite a bit of time helping folks over in the networking area of the Apple Support Communities. If I can help get you started here with your IPv6 questions, related to your AirPort Extreme base station, ask away. But as @jfb has mentioned you can find a lot of helpful folks over at the ASC.
How to configure your Pi-hole with the AirPort Extreme base station is actually shown in one of the images jfb has already provided. You would enter your Pi-hole's IPv4 address as the first "DNS Servers" and its IPv6 address in the "IPv6 DNS Servers" slot. The key is to have already assigned static local IP addresses for your Pi-hole. You do NOT want your Pi-hole to have a dynamically assigned IP address.
@WeekendSuperhero
This really doesn't sound like a Pi-hole issue, but a networking one. As such it would help do know a bit more about your current network. Which exact version is your AirPort Extreme base station? Is it connected directly, by Ethernet, to a simple modem or to another router/gateway device upstream of it? Regardless, what is the make & model of this device?
I'm assuming that Comcast is providing you with IPv6 service. There are a few "flavors" of this type of service. Which kind exactly are they providing you? If they provided you with the correct IPv6 settings, you would enter them using the Configure IPv6 > Manually option. Otherwise, you would use the Automatic & Native settings.
The stuttering seems to happen whenever I enable ipv6 settings on the AirPort Extreme. If I remove the airport from my setup and just you the router built into the Plume then things work fine, granted I only have ipv4 addresses. If I set the airport to automatic and native mode for ipv6 I get an assigned prefix and everything seems to work except for the internet stuttering issue especially on things like zoom. I have 1Gib speeds so I know I should not be getting choppiness but when ipv6 settings are enabled the problem re appears. My setup is PiHole controls both DNS and DHCP AirPort Extreme only does the routing and NAT for ipv4 addresses. Plume Pods manage the wifi
@WeekendSuperhero Sorry, but I don't have any experience with the Plume mesh system. However, from what I gathered so far, the Plume can only support IPv6 when in bridge mode. As you mentioned, it is only providing IPv4 as it is configured as a router. This leads me to believe that IPv6 is being blocked in this latter mode and just connecting another router, like your Extreme, will not solve the this issue.
@WeekendSuperhero If the Plume "main" router/node is in bridge mode, it is supposed to pass-thru both IPv4 & IPv6 traffic. Have you tried simply connecting a notebook directly to the node to verify that that is true?
I get the same issue if I have update my content In paticular folder or movie . I found closing the app fixes the issue .
If your having issues with the latest infuse . I suggest uninstalling it and rebooting and downloading it fresh from the app store. Hope this helps .
I have tried everything mentioned here above. Nothing has changed.
However i found i fix. I just unplugged my Airport extreme and than plugged it back in.
(keep in mind that i already did this about a week ago)
Just same scenario , everything works fine than everything stops working for no reason and i get a error message when i tried to connect to my shares in infuse.
(i still can connect from the vlc app on the apple tv and other similar apps on the apple tv store) But infuse does not connect.
Just so I can try to replicate.
You have a USB drive attached to airport.
Airport disc sharing is on and you have set a password.
You open infuse and your airport extreme populates as a share.
You select it and use admin as username and then enter the passowrd you set in disc sharing (not your airport password)
This is typically where you get the error?
Or does it connect and then you try to browse/add favourites and that is where the rror pops up?

Other posts on this site refer to an Advanced Settings Tab on Airport Utility 6.x. or else Manual Setup. I don't see this anywhere in the GUI. Under the Network tab, you can reserve static IPs, but that's not what I want, I want to see which WIRED (not just wireless) devices are actually connected. I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with my DirecTV box which doesn't seem to be connecting even though I have reserved an IP for its MAC address. Yes, I can ping the IP, but the point is if I want to set it to DHCP, I wouldn't know the IP, and it would be nice to just see what all the devices are.
iNet will scan your network for all connected devices and show you a list of devices with their hostnames and IP addresses. It also has a dedicated mode for AirPort routers showing devices connected and relevant information about each one.
I can't but wonder why AirPort Utility doesn't let the user not only enlist the connected devices, but also manage them in some way (a black list comes to mind, Forcing a device to reconnect by disconnecting it temporarily, and so on).
Using AirPort Utility 6.3.1 I can only see as a pop-over window, a list of WiFi devices connected to my TimeCapsule - many of which show no name, or device-type. Now I wonder --- Is there some intruder? Maybe a neighbor who cracked my network password?
Open the airport utility and press the option key when you open the airport extreme and you will see a summary window on that window you will see all connected devices and some statistics. Unfortunately apple has removed the log option actually it has removed all the advanced options in the last version of airport utility... :(
I am wondering why this is not available by default in Airport Utility 6.x as well. I was able to achieve the same by installing a FREE app called Fing. This is available for both Android and iOS devices.
Yes, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule both share their USB disks via both AFP (Apple File Protocol, the default remote filesystem mounting protocol for Macs) and SMB (Server Message Block, the default remote filesystem mounting protocol for Windows, which is what the open source "SaMBa" server serves). So the SMB client in Ubuntu should be able to mount your AirPort Extreme's USB disk just like it mounts a Windows server or Linux Samba server.
After lot's of trial and error I got it working on Ubuntu 18.04. The big catch is you must use vers=1.0. However, the network throughput is not very good. I have a gigabit network, and max out at around 125Mbps. Better than nothing though.
Wouldn't bother. Check this out: -us/HT202807So with SMB it supports only up to real old FAT32, allowing max 32GB volumes and max 4GB File size.No NTFS, no ExFAT.Maybe the apple proprietary files systems may work, but not supported in combination with SMB.Here I am staring at a 1TB drive with up to 12GB sized files and my airport extreme. Oh well.. So much for that one.

Has anyone out there ever tried to hack the Airport Extreme, specifically with regard to the USB port? There are many cellular routers available that provide WiFi sharing of a USB modem link. However, instead of buying yet another router, I'd like to use my expensive Airport Extreme with it. The AE has a USB port on the back, but it's been said that it only talks to printers. Is there a way to hack the USB driver on the AE to allow it to recognize a USB modem, then use that as the connectivity instead of the LAN?
I would imagine that one could use OpenFirmware to boot something on the AE. If one can boot it, then one could provide access using SSH across the lan. Once access is granted, then let the hacking begin... but I don't know how to (a) get the mini-osx on to USB (is it the same as the ATV without a UI?) or (b) how to load up certain things once boot has begun.
I am not aware of any firmware for the modern Airport base stations other than the official Apple ones. Adding support for new types of hardware sounds rather ambitious, so I'd expect it to follow simpler tweaks like adjusting the signal strength.
Another idea is to turn internet sharing on in the computer to which you connect your 3G USB modem. This way you convert your mac into a router itself rather than buying an additional router. I have this set-up for my temporary location and it works like a charm...
Matt G is correct. So far there has yet to be any firmware hacks for the Airport Extreme. As a proud owner of two of them I can say, I believe that they run some sort of embedded version of BSD. However, this does not mean that it is similar to the appleTV (which I also own). I won't go into detail since this is already off topic, but the I believe the appleTV could be hacked by decrypting the firmware and injecting a SSH server into the image, which with a mac would not be extremely difficult.
You said there were spots on the board for adding a SATA drive. What about the power supply? How difficult would it be to add a hard drive? Is there any software that is Apple's to turn it into a Time Capsule?
While you can do it the connector and supporting discrete components are nor present. They can be added, but you will have a hard time getting the parts and this will be difficult to retrofit into your unit. In addition, you will also need a incredibly short SATA cable that may be impossible to find.
