Hello everyone!

I am Jessie Kilbride, PRSSA President of Olivet Nazarene University (an hour south of Chicago). Our chapter is currently in the process of transition this semester, focusing on the quality of our meetings over quantity. I am curious to hear what are some of your favorite or most popular workshops that you have done?

Thank you.

Hi Jessie!

At my Chapter, we try to look at the current PR curriculum and find gaps to fill in. For example, in our professional development course, LinkedIn is touched on but never really covered in-depth. Our first member workshop is bringing in a speaker from an HR company to cover what they look for in a candidate's profile. We planned a 30-minute speaker session and a 30 minute 'hands-on' session where people can apply the skills they learn. Popularity TBA, but people seem to be interested. Hope this helps and good luck this semester!

One of the biggest ones for us is a professional headshot and mock interview meeting. It's not a PR focused meeting so it kind of gives a little variety as to what we do while helping our members get ready for the internship/job fair.

Our most popular ones have been LinkedIn, Resume, Speed Interviewing, and Cover Letters!

Hey Jessie!

At Georgia State, we've linked up with local firms and had speakers come. One speaker in particular spoke to the idea of linkedin and how to leverage your exposure for employers as well as best practicies- professionally speaking. This led to members updating their linkedin accounts and networking.

All members loved it! If you're still early in the semester- I teamed up with our academic advisor to have her students attend a meeting for extra credit. This past meeting, of the 12 that joined for extra credit six of them ended up joining out chapter. Great traffic driver.
