Hey Team!

So this week we are planning to meet with both our artist for the video and the photographer for the billboard. I know we had discussed compensation for these two people. I thought it might be helpful if we decide on a final amount to pay them each and bring money to contribute to class on Wednesday. We mentioned paying them both $50 which seems fair. If thats the case, we would each need to bring $12.50 on Wednesday. Can everyone respond with thoughts/approval?

Also, FYI we are meeting with the artist Wednesday night at 6 p.m. (place TBD)

The photographer said she can meet anytime Monday after 3:30, Tuesday after 2:00 or Wednesday after 2:00. Please decide on a time and place and legit ideas for the photos. I will try to arrange my schedule to be there. If it's going to be shot outside just remember that it gets dark early. Let me know by Sunday what the final decision is so that I can let her know. Her email is l.jon...@hotmail.com if you want to contact her.

Thanks!
Chelsea

Hey,

So I actually paid 15 bucks for pizzas for the focus group, and I believe Megan did as well, and forgot to get reimbursed. Can that just cover me or does that change the amount in some way, like do we have to redo the math?

For the photographer, I can meet after 4 on Monday, after 5 on Tuesday and Wednesday any time. So I will be able to be there practically any time. We can discuss amongst ourselves in the smaller group but just wanted to send this out to everyone so you know someone will definitely be available and this will be happening!

This was one of the ideas we were kicking around: http://i.imgur.com/uVyQW.jpg

But clearly better than that that was made in paint. It's difficult to balance it - making it not scary/sad but also not making it happy/dating service asking to prom etc. But is this an idea that flies with everyone? The place where the conversation is would just be the chat bubbles and bigger so the text is legible and quick to read as you zoom by in a car and clearly the back and forth would be better than the current conversation that's just for placement. But the photo would be a horizontal pic with the girl on one of the far sides with a cell phone clearly texting. But I don't want to have paying for these pictures be a waste of time and money if we create this and half our group doesn't like it. How I wish we could use stock photos...

Thanks,
Emily

Great point Emily. So in that case everyone but Emily and Meg bring $17 on Wednesday to our meeting.  This is likely to be the only cost of this entire course, so please make it easy and just bring it on Wednesday.

As for the billboard. I don't hate the idea below. Why don't we plan to work with that and also do the photo of someone ripping up a sheet of paper that has "silence" written on it. I feel like that was our best idea thus far. It also may be a good idea to give Joan a couple different options, and these photos can be used on other material as well. If we have one more idea that would be ideal. That way we will have 3 options to present to Joan.

Emily thanks for letting me know what works best for you. I'd love to get this set up with Leslie ASAP so let me know the final verdict.

Thanks!

My thoughts on everything:

Money: Sounds good to me--everyone bring $17. If it makes it easier, I don't mind writing a check for $50 to each, and everyone can give me cash.

Billboard idea: I definitely think something along the lines of what Emily suggested would be effective. I like it, and I'm interested in everyone else's thoughts. Chelsea--I like your suggestion.

Meeting for photographer for billboard: I could meet Monday until about 6 pm. Are we working to get the whole group to meet for this? I think it would be fine if the whole group's not there, but the more the merrier.

Camera for filming artist: Does anyone know how to get their hands on a video camera through Grady so that we can film the artist drawing on Wednesday evening? We'll have to be able to get the video file into iMovie as well in order to edit ourselves. I don't know how all of that works! Otherwise, does anyone have a video camera we could borrow for this?

Meg

The whole group doesn't need to be there for the photo shoot for the billboard. I'm going to try to be there since I know the artist. I know Jordan and Stephen may have a hard time being there so even if it's just Emily and myself that's fine, it all comes down to who is going to be the person photographed...

I have no idea about the camera or iMovie, I'm completely incompetent when it comes to things like that. I have a flip cam. Not sure that's our best bet, but just throwing out out there.

Gees... This class has been the cheapest of my undergrad. :) $17 sounds good!

Yea our group had talked about us not all being there if its not on a Wednesday, but if she can do the Wednesday time, that would work well I think. And I agree that we need to have more than one pose to try out, plus we could use the pictures on the education side as Joan just emailed me asking for a poster.... Which we have not had in the works. So the more pictures the better. I like these two ideas best too! And I vote Chelsea as the model. (you just seem like you wouldn't be camera shy) but, we could even have a shot with more than one person....

I wish I knew how to work iMovie to help. Are you all wanting the edu side to be there too? If you need help since ill already be in town, let me know.

I can meet anytime on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, flexible times table
and I will bring the money with me
about the billboard pic, I actually think tearing paper will be a better idea, the girl with text bubble prob fit better on poster or brochure, but we will see. Just let me know the time we can meet up.

All-

I probably can't meet any day other than Wednesday evening. Chelsea- just let me know what you all decide. I will for sure be here for the Breaking Silence video.

Also, has anyone emailed Dr. Russell about finding a video camera? Let me know ASAP and I will email her if not.

Thanks,
Paula

Hey Paula,

We are meeting Tuesday at 5p.m for the photo shoot with Leslie. You don't have to be there, but if you want to come we'd love to have you there. We will meet at the Jittery Joes in the SLC to discuss ideas with Leslie and then go to North Campus to do the actually photos. I haven't reached out to Dr. Russell about the camera. Feel free to go ahead and reach out to her. Thanks!
