Kansas Doctos of
Medicine & Surgery (MD) Practice Course
The Kansas Doctos of Medicine & Surgery (MD) Practice Course is a
post-baccalaureate program designed to provide students with the opportunity to
prepare for the USMLE examination and become a licensed physician in the United
States. The course consists of four semesters, which are completed within two
years. Students will receive a total of 1,000 hours of didactic sessions and
clinical training.
The first year is spent studying basic sciences such as anatomy, physiology,
biochemistry, microbiology, pathology and pharmacology. During this year,
students will also learn how to manage patients during critical situations in
both an emergency room and intensive care unit setting while observing real
life cases.
The second year is spent learning how to diagnose and treat patients with various
types of diseases through clinical rotations in hospitals and clinics
throughout Kansas City. Students will have the opportunity to participate in
research projects under the guidance of experienced physicians at the
University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
