Iowa (IA) Nursing Home Administrator Practice Course
About the Service:
Iowa (IA) Nursing Home
Administrator Practice Course is a state-approved training program that
prepares students to become certified nursing home administrators. The program
consists of 20 hours of lecture and 50 hours of clinical practice. Students are
required to take the course within two years of passing the national exam for
certification as a nursing home administrator.
The Iowa Board of Nursing administers this program, which is offered at several
locations throughout the state.
A high school diploma or GED is required for admission into this program.
Applicants must also have completed an RN or LPN degree from an accredited
nursing school and have been licensed by the Iowa Board of Nursing for one
year.
Applicants cannot have any criminal convictions related to the abuse or neglect
of patients or residents in long-term care facilities.
