Kansas Aircraft Mechanic
Practice Course
The Kansas Aircraft Mechanic Practice Course is a one-year, full-time program
of study designed to prepare students for employment as an aircraft mechanic.
The program is administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce and its
partners: Wichita State University, Butler Community College, Central Plains
Technical Institute, Dodge City Community College and Hutchinson Community
College.
You will learn how to troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems such as engines,
hydraulic systems and electrical systems. You will also learn about regulations
governing the operation of aircraft and their maintenance requirements.

Kansas Aircraft Mechanics are employed in the following fields:
Air Transportation Industry – Airlines, cargo carriers, charter operators;
repair shops; private individuals who own small planes or helicopters;
aviation-related manufacturing companies (aircraft parts); government agencies
(Federal Aviation Administration).
