About the Service:" Florida (FL) Occupational Therapy Assistant Practice Course
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in Florida. This course is approved by the Florida Board of Occupational Therapy. The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) has approved this course for meeting the requirements of the NBCOT exam for OTA certification.
The program has been designed to meet all state licensing regulations for OTAs and includes a review of laws and regulations, legal issues and ethical principles. Students will learn about the physical and mental health needs of persons with disabilities; disease processes specific to adults, youth and children; treatment modalities including biofeedback; occupational therapy assessment techniques; pharmacology; developmental milestones; growth and development; abnormal behavior patterns; adaptive techniques and safety precautions. Students will also learn how to use therapeutic modalities such as hot packs, ice packs, galvanic stimulation, electrotherapy devices (e-stim), ultrasound transducers (ultrasound), backpacks/tens units, vibrating pads/tranquilizers/transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), passive modalities (hot/cold packs), manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilization/manipulation etc., erg"
