Alarm interface unit and Exceed

Hi all ,

I'am using normal Win2000 based PC with Hummingbird Exceed software to
operate Provox Dcs at Polyester plant . I am also using one OCU
connected with Alarm interface unit ALU to generate audible alarms
from the Dcs .

Is there a way to get rid of this OCU at all and just use some
software like Exceed to operate Provox system so that audible alarms
are generated on PC speakers ??

Hi,

The audible alarms via the AIU are generated using a custom /
proprietary protocol that the tektronics (NCD) terminals understand to
pass information out the parallel port.

To the best of my knowledge, I do not think that there is any software
that emulates that net to printer protocol. I have searched in the
past, but not recently.
