In March 2015, it was announced that composer Ludwig Gransson would score Creed, marking the second feature-length film collaboration between Gransson and director Ryan Coogler after Fruitvale Station (2013).[2] Influenced by 1970s culture and the musical legacy of the Rocky film series, Coogler noted that "the music was a big focal point" for the film, stating, "'Eye of the Tiger', 'No Easy Way Out', all those songs were a massive hit. And we embraced that. We recorded original songs for the movie."[3] Gransson brought in an array of artists to modernize the orchestral aspects of the soundtrack. "The first name that came to mind was obviously Meek Mill, because we needed a voice from Philly," said Gransson. "For me that was an obvious choice for the big training montage. It's all full orchestral, and it has some dark 808s under it. In the middle there are all these dirt bikes coming out, and there's a 45-second rap verse that Meek Mill is doing over that."[4] Other musicians that recorded with Gransson specifically for the film include Donald Glover, Future, Vince Staples, and Jhen Aiko.[4]

A music video for Mill's "Lord Knows" was created as a companion to the film. Released on November 20, 2015, the Spike Jordan-directed video features footage from the film edited together with footage of Mill and Tory Lanez performing the song.[5] Both of Mill's respective tracks that appear on the film's soundtrack, the former, along with "Check", were originally listed on his sophomore album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, released earlier that year.

Actress Tessa Thompson, who portrays singer/songwriter Bianca in the film, was involved early with the film's preparation in order to write music for her character with Gransson.[6] "We spent two weeks in Los Angeles in a studio basically writing from morning until night," said Thompson. "It was cool and also gave me insight on [Bianca's] musical abilities, which is something I dabbled in."[7] Three tracks featuring Thompson are included in the film: "Grip", "Breathe", and "Shed You".[8]

Creed: Original Motion Picture Score is a soundtrack album for the 2015 film Creed, composed by Ludwig Gransson. It was released on November 20, 2015, through WaterTower Music.[12] The score was recorded with a 100-piece orchestra and a 24-piece choir at Warner Bros. Studios.[4]

You've seen Creed, right? It's a good movie for lots of reasons, but it nails one thing no other big movie this year has: its score. You can find almost all of Creed within the twenty-odd tracks that make up its score; just about every aspect of the movie's soundtrack is a direct reflection of the ideas and themes the movie itself is exploring, and it reflects them in a remarkably concrete way.

Its opening number, "Juvy," ends with a piano, quietly whispering the two five-note phrases that will become its hero's theme proclaimed loudly with the same loud, brassy horns that first appear early in the movie as Adonis shadowboxes alongside footage of his father, Apollo Creed, fighting Rocky Balboa. It's a very literal encapsulation of the film's exploration of legacy, a theme Ludwig Goransson's score effectively echoes.

Encased in a gatefold jacket, this exclusive artwork brings the game's rich history and complex characters to life. The set is wrapped by an obi-strip and includes a 12" insert with soundtrack credits and notes. Each disc offers an auditory passage into the world where myth intertwines with reality, and it features the theme song "Mirage" by One Republic. This soundtrack is more than just music, it's a captivating journey through the enigmatic and historic world of Assassin's Creed Mirage.

What's your background in music? Were you musical as a child?
Yes, I started on piano when I was five, and violin at seven. My dad organized a family band with me and my sister when we were very young, playing all sorts of stuff from folk and bluegrass to old blues and eventually evolving into a classic rock cover band. Writing and performing music was a big part of my life growing up. After spending a year at a regular liberal arts college playing in bands, I realized writing in the studio was where I belonged. I then went on to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

The first game has a very capable soundtrack when a scene calls for it. Unfortunately, normal playthrough is almost entirely devoid of music. Things usually kick in during moments such as chase sequences or boss fights, which is when we hear entertaining pieces. The lack of a consistent soundtrack seeps away some of the fun in general but allows significant parts of the story to stand out. Battles against the likes of Al Mualim are bound to create a rushing feeling among fans because of the way the music steers the scene. The soundtrack is primarily designed to evoke a sense of mystery, featuring beats that make it clear that the clock is ticking in the story.

The way a project flows is everything to me. With that being said, this soundtrack flows perfectly. Throughout it, you get just as many efficient, hard-hitting, competitive, hungry, thought-provoking, and inspirational bars as soothing, passionate, seductive, and emotional singing moments. Production-wise, you get just as many authentic hip-hop beats as feel-good neo-soul/R&B beats. Just like a skilled boxer knows, Dreamville understands the importance of having a good balance. As a result, they have gifted us with a soundtrack that almost feels like it knows what kind of music is productive for our soul.

Michael B. Jordan and Creed III musical supervisor and co-executive producer of the soundtrack Frank Brim also played a crucial role in collaborating with the artists in order to have the music reflect the tone and energy of the movie.

"RICKY ROS CONFIRMED ON THE #CREEDIISOUNDTRACK," Mike Will wrote on one post along with a photo of him and Ross. The Atlanta super-producer also unveiled that Wayne would take part in the soundtrack, uploading a text message conversation with Wayne's longtime friend and label president Mack Maine. The exchange shows Maine sending Mike Will an apparent vocal session from Weezy for the film.

In recent weeks, Mike Will has teased a number of other artists who also might appear on the soundtrack via Instagram, including YG, Nas, and Swae Lee among others. Creed II will star Michael B. Jordan, with Ryan Coogler directing. The film is due out in theaters on November 21.

The 65th annual Grammy Awards were rewarding game soundtracks in their own category for the first time this year, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla nominated alongside Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Call Of Duty: Vanguard, Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy, and Old World. The nominees had been announced in November.

Video games have been eligible alongside film and TV at the Grammys since 2011, with Baba Yetu, a song written for Civilization 4, becoming the first ever music originally composed for a video game to win a Grammy award.

The original Creed soundtrack was helmed by Composer Ludwig Gransson and featured new songs from Meek Mill, Future, Childish Gambino, Jhen Aiko and Tessa Thompson. Gransson returned to score Creed II, which came alongside a soundtrack produced by Mike Will Made-It.

Creed III boasts an original score by The Book of Boba Fett composer Joseph Shirley, while a number of songs by popular artists can also be heard in the soundtrack, including tracks from Drake and Fugees.

The soundtrack is being overseen by J Cole's Dreamville Records and was released as an album to coincide with the film's debut in cinemas on Friday 3rd March. Read on to find out which tracks appear in the Creed III soundtrack.
