HI there,

I am running the following under Vista Home Premium:

- Thunderbird 2.0.0.21
- Lightning 0.9
- Provider for Google Calendar 0.5.1

Every time I create an entry with a reminder, once the alarm time is
reached, the reminder won't dismiss or snooze, the window just pops up
again. It will go away for a short time if I close the reminder
window, but pops back up. If I go and edit the entry to remove the
reminder, the event is not modified. This looks a lot like the
recurring entries bug, except this isn't a recurring one.

I can also confirm that I've tried on 2 different computers (both
running Vista I'm afraid!) with the same results.

Here is a log extract from just before I come to try and dismiss a
reminder which won't dismiss:

[calCachedCalendar] replayChangesOn finished.
[calAlarmService] considering alarm for item: Anne Peak alarm time:
2009/04/14 08:00:00 UTC isDate=0 snooze time: null
[calAlarmService] now is 2009/04/14 08:15:49 UTC isDate=0
[calAlarmService] last ack was: null
[calAlarmService] alarm is in the past and unack'd, firing now!

Should I file this as a bug or am I missing something blindingly
obvious?

I should add to my previous message that the only way I can get rid of
the popups is by deleting the calendar entry itself - doing that from
Thunderbird seems to work fine.

Have you tried enabling the experimental cache feature in your Google calendar properties? That has worked for some users - right click on your Google Calendar in the calendar list, go to Properties and you should see it somewhere there.

If I go into my gmail account via browser, I can't even dismiss
alarms. So I don't necessarily think it is a Provider issue, it seems
more likely a gmail issue if you cant dismiss alarms in gmail.
