Thunderbird has self-updated from version 49.something to 52.0.1 (32 bits).

Current version: 52.0.1 (32 bits), language Catalan, running on Windows 10.0.15063 64-bits (Spanish)
--
Thunderbird self-updated LIghtning as well.
The auto-update did not complain or notify about any incompaty with Provider for Google Calendar. However, after checking https://addons.mozilla.org/ca/thunderbird/addon/provider-for-google-calendar/?src=userprofile, I found out the Provider is *NOT* tested against version 52.0.1.
--

The Google Sign In dialog appears on screen, but it doesn't work properly. You can change the login email address, and you can select the interface language: these two parts of the interface work.
However, the "NEXT" button doesn't do anything, nor the other links within the page ("Provider for Google Calendar", "More options", "Help", "Privacy" and "Terms").

So, at this point, the only possible way to continue is to close the window, After that the corresponding Google Calendar gets a warning a sign and is "temporarily disconnnected". Any attempt to reconnect brings back the Sign In Dialog.

I've tried to revert to an earlier version of Thunderbird without success (among other things, because I'd need also to revert to an earlier version of Lightning... and I couldn't find out how, provided that it is built into the update process).

Are there any possible possible workarounds?
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

With kind regards

Had this problem just now, I also received an email on the google account in question saying it had blocked a sign in.

Looking at the email there was an option to turn off security for 'less secure apps' ie thunderbird, after turning off the sign in worked.

I have fresh installs of TB (52.0.1-2), Lightning (5.4-1), and Provider 3.3.  I am unable to add my Google account.  For me, when I select On the Network -> Google Calendar, the Next button remains grayed out.  As near as I can tell, I should be able to click next here and get the login prompt.  I assume this is related to the issue in this thread.

Since TB 52/Provider 3.3 I can't log in.

Other than what you guys are seeing I first get the sign in dialog with a working "Next" button.
But when I click it I get another dialog that says "Something went wrong, please try again". I get no chance to enter my password.

Philipp, are you here? Any news about that?

Hi Jsan...
(sorry for my poor english)

I've had the same problem and have solve it :
 - go to 'tools' / 'option' / 'Private' and check "accept cookies" - Allways

Quit Thunderbird and run it
Enter your mail & password, check calendar and validate.

Try this ... it'was working for me
(TB 52.1.0 - Lightining 5.4.1 - Google Provider 3.3)

For me, deleting cookies worked (Tools>Options>Privacy tab> Show Cookies).
Also had success curing a related calendar corruption problem by deleting the local calendar cache and downloading events again ("C:\Users\W\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxx.Default User\calendar-data").
Others had success clearing stored Thunderbird passwords (Tools>Options>Security>Passwords tab>Saved Passwords button).

Deleting the stored passwords for that google-calender and restarting TB helped for me!!!

Tools>Options>Security>Passwords tab>Saved Passwords button
Extras>Einstellungen>>Sicherheit>Passwörter-Tab>Gespeicherte Passwörter

Just order it by mail-adress and only delete all the passwords stored for your calender!
