Provider has bee working fine once the recent update business got sorted out.  NOW all of a sudden I can't accept meeting invitations - I get this error message: "no writable calendars are configured for invitations".

Following some investigation on the interwebz, I went into Config Editor and set "calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations" to TRUE (changed from FALSE) - but it is still not working.
The whole point of this is to be able to accept/invite/process meeting & event invitations.

Gotta fix, anyone?

I've had the same issue. Although, I still seem to be able to drag a drop the .ics file from the e-mail onto the events pane. I'm not sure if this is suitable for your purpose but it may provide a temporary fix.

Best wishes

Still having same issue here.  Tbird will post invites to calendar "home", but that is not what I want.  I want it to post to my default calendar I use for work, like it used to.  Y'know, so I can sync up my computer, my phone, etc. to the same calendar.

I really, really, REALLY, don't want to have to switch to Outlook -- that makes me sick.

Hi Julie, Phillip,

note that you can only accept invitations into your default calendar, i.e. the one with your name on it. Accepting into other calendars is currently not supported. This is to avoid issues with Google treating it as a new event and inviting everyone on your attendees list.

To my knowledge, I have the calendar I would like to use (which has something other than a gmail domain, if that matters) set to the default, which I was able to verify in the Config Editor by looking at the following two properties for the correct calendar:
  • calendar.registry.****.calendar-main-default
  • calendar.registry.****.calendar-main-in-composite
Both of which are set to true.  Based on some posts by other people, I have also set the following value to true:
  • calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations
However, I still see "no writable calendars are configured for invitations" when an email that contains a calendar invite is in focus.

My system is as follows:
  • Linux Mint 17.1
  • Thunderbird 31.6.0
  • Lightning 3.3.3
  • Provider for Google Calendar 1.0.4

Hey,

As band...@skylinenolimits.com stated, change the value of calendar.google.enableEmailinvitations to true. This can be done in the config editor of thunderbird:
1. Options:

2. Advanced tab --> Config editor:

The following setting is only available if the Google Provider plugin is installed :

  • calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations (default: false)

This setting needs to be set to TRUE in order for Google Calendars to show up in the selection list when accepting an invitation.

I had an additional step which I had to take. Full instructions below for anyone that encounters this.
  1. In Options, go to Advanced (Tab) > Config Editor (Button)
  2. Search for "calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations" and ensure the property is set to true
  3. Restart Thunderbird (Not sure this is necessary)
  4. Go to the calendar you want to use with your email, right click it and select "Properties"
  5. Change the "Email" field to the account you want to process invites for
  6. Click "OK"
  7. Go to an email invitation and you should now see the accept and decline buttons.
Thanks for getting me to the answer everyone!

Dale, I've been looking for this for days.
Not sure what "calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations" means in the end, but that IS the way to go.

Thanks for posting this.
