I think that today, 7 November, is when the old Google API expires. I guess we can expect a number of folk turning up with old versions of the Provider no longer working.

If that is you then try out the latest version of the Provider (currently 1.0.2) along with the most recent versions of Lightning. If it works for you then you'll be happy and get good service.

However, if, like many of us, you find that the new Provider doesn't work as you anticipate then it seems to me that the least bad alternative is to use a CalDAV calendar. Details provided by others elsewhere in this group here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/provider-for-google-calendar/caldav/provider-for-google-calendar/_n1IpJgwn7U/SDuuZOf64S0J  There are well documented issues with a few issues to do with dismissing reminders with the CalDAV stuff but if these are not important or don't affect you then it provides a good alternative.

Others speak well of the Google Calendar Tab add-on (search for the add on and integrate it in the normal manner following the prompts to log-in to Google Calendar and link the calendar of choice).

It's 11/17, actually, not 11/7 -
"Google Calendar API v1 Developer's Guide: Protocol

This API is a subject to the Deprecation Policy and will be shutdown on November 17, 2014. Please use APIv3 instead."

but, nonetheless, the day will be soon upon us.   I'd been hoping ever since the auto-update to v1 that didn't work, and having to revert to 0.32, that most problems would be solved by then, that whatever it was  couldn't take all *that* long, but, it seems to have been tougher than anticipated....  :(
