Ubuntu 8.04 Thunderbird & Lightning with Google

Hi

For several days now I have struggled with this.

The system is a new install of Ubuntu 8.04, Thunderbird (2.0.0.12)
with Sunbird 0.7, Lightning 0.7

Everything is fine except.

1. I cannot use the Google Provider (it needs Lightning 0.8)

2. Installing Lightning 0.8 breaks everything (Lightning, calendars).
Nothing works (not your fault ;-) )

3. Installing Lightning 0.9pre does not work either as the provider
tool need 0.8

Is there anything steps you can suggest to either make it work with
0.7 or 0.9?

Please make sure you have the libstdc5 package installed

I have a similar problem,
When i check the error console this line seams to be the problem

return Components.classes["@mozilla.org/calendar/datetime;1"].

toocer, do you have any other error messages, and have you installed
libstdc5 ? The line is incomplete, but this line should usually not be
a problem.

Hi,

Sunbird 0.7 and Lightning 0.7only run with Google calendar 0.3.1 add-
on. Get it; It runs well.
Google Calendar add-on 0.4 REQUIRES Sunbird or lightning 0.8 min.

I found it much easier to install by using Ubuntuzilla to get the
latest version of Thunderbird, and then installing the latest version
of Lightning after that. It worked a treat!

I'd just advise that you don't use Ubuntuzilla to get the latest
version of Firefox on Hardy, since it uses the beta release.
