I'm working with a computer that has setup a local account connected under Windows Live ID. The user can login to Live ID (like hotmail) from another computer with the correct credentials. However from the Windows 8 computer using the correct password it indicates.

Now, I've used NTPASSWD to reset the password, but it seems that since its not a "Local Account" it wont take the new password or blank one. EDIT: NTPASSWD will reset/set a password, but windows will not authenticate using that.

You will have to reset it through this link. I cant think of a reason off the top of my head that the passwords would become out of sync, however using tools like NTPASSWD would never work on the new Windows accounts that are linked to your LiveID.

Yes, you can switch to a local account by booting in to a command prompt and enabling the local administrative account built into windows (turned off by default) bootup in to command prompt then enter this command...... net user administrator /active:yes then reboot and vola!

"Username or password is incorrect. Make sure both username and account are valid" error received when I try to scan to email. Not sure where to go to correct the issue and have been unsuccessful finding instructions online

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer. I read that when you try to scan to an email an error appears saying that ""Username or password is incorrect. Make sure both username and account are valid". Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

How can we go into scan email set up wizard if we cannot log in? The problem is we cannot log in to access any of the tools to fix the problem. I never had this problem before and can only ascertain it is due to some malconfigured update. I put in my username and password and it will not accept it. A pop up shows to log in. I am unsure if it is HP or if it is from the browser. I tried both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome to see if it was just Edge, and both pop up a log in window that will not accept my username and password. How do we get around this issue?

Why changing the password on the router worked, or why it somehow stopped working overnight, is a puzzle to me. I did go through some firewall settings on my laptop, I was messing with Stream what you hear, but not sure how they could have effected things here?

I had this issue as well, and tried the above to no avail. What worked was creating a new SSID with open authentication, factory resetting the play 1, connecting it to the new SSID, then adding mac authentication to the new SSID. Hope this helps someone.

This took me days to figure out unfortunately. Thanks to all before me... What worked for me: hooked up Sonos to Ethernet, checked channel setting in Sonos app network settings. It was set to 6. Then in router, updated firmware, set WiFi network mode to "WPA mixed" and channel number to 6. Tada...

What worked for me is disabling the 5 ghz network on my router (it has 2 antennas for 2.4ghz and 5ghz, both with the same ssid and password). After disabling it the Sonos box immediately accepted the password that it had rejected multiple times before.

The most frustrating part of the whole experience is that Sonos keeps telling you that the password you entered is wrong and doesn't offer any other option then to try again. And apparently there are quite a few things you can try to get it to work.

Having this issue with the Beam. Installed it and worked fine yesterday. I have tried troubleshooting - the Sonos has created its own network - but I get an error that says the wifi password is incorrect even though I can log into the same network with the password. Will give this a try! Thank you.

I have this problem every time the power goes out. I have a Sonos Beam and three Sonos Ones throughout the house. When the router comes back on following a power outage, it typically finds only the Beam and two of the Sonos Ones.

Had exactly the same issue. Repeated hard factory resets of my Sonos One (which had worked for a couple of years fault free then just dropped off the network) did not work. Went through the reset, add, password incorrect, connect to ethernet, device not found loop enough times to scream.

I am now getting the following error message "User name or password is incorrect. Make sure the credentials are correct in the configuration" when attempting to scan a doc ument to a designated folder on my PC.

I have not changed anything (folder permissions, location, drivers, passwords, etc) and it has worked since the printer was new. It stopped this week but I can't determine why. I can scan to a memory device and scan to the computer but no longer to a network folder. Any solutions?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you were able to use the 'scan to network folder' digital filing feature for your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One. However, the feature has suddenly stopped working for you on your Windows 7 computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Generally when something like this is set up and working for a period of time and suddenly stops, it is caused by a Windows Update that may have run on your computer. To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below.

If the Save and Test portion fails than there could be a conflict with the folder sharing options, again due to a Windows Update that may have altered your system settings. Please ensure that your folder is still set to share properly. If you're not sure how to check these permissions options, please click here for steps.

After ensuring that the permissions are correctly set, please rerun the Scan to Network Folder Wizard and Save and Test when prompted. If this still fails there could be an issue with the folder itself.

Please try to create a new folder and run the wizard again to configure it for the new folder. Even a simple folder on your desktop will do for a test. If everything passes this time when you run the Save and Test this will tell us that there is a corruption or issue with your prior folder.

Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your issue. Should you still be experiencing issues be sure to let me know what occurs when you run the Save and Test option for your current folder, and when you run the Save and Test option for a new folder. Best of luck!

Thanks X for the great instructions. Unfortunately I do not have the HP Printer Assistant SW on my PC and can't seem to find it on HP's. I can open the printer from my browser and from the Start/All Programs/HP/Officejet Pro 8600 but neither of those give me the options you describe.

4. After you have entered the required information about the network folder, click Save and Test to make sure the link to the network folder is working correctly. The entry is added to the Network Folder list.

Open the HP Printer Assistant and follow the steps I provided you in my prior post to complete the Network Folder Setup Wizard instructions to resolve your scan to network folder issues.

I've uninstalled and attempted again to install this. Consistently I get to the "Checking Network Environment" portion of the install when it hangs and does not respond. I've waited an hour before killing it. This has happened multiple times.

I have the USB disconnected but I do have an ethernet cable from my router to the 8600 printer and am attempting to install it as a wired network printer. I do have an 8500 connected to my network also which I can connect to via wireless. It is not connected to this HP p6240f desktop running Windows 7.

I was finally able to get the HP Printer Assistant SW to install and open but only after installing using the USB. However there is no Scan to Network Folder Wizard link. Here is an image showing what I have available. Also I have tried mulitple times to set up and edit the network folder and get the same result of "Incorrect Credentials". I had not changed these since setting up the folder at the time I first setup the printer several months ago. Any tips on Folder information? I

Thanks X-21. I finally got there. Something had changed the network folder profile fields so after restructuring the correct information I can now scan from the printer to the designated folder as previously done. I'll never know what changed those but something had.

x-23, I hate to report my problem is back. I have not changed anything on this computer but the scan to Network Folder has stopped working again. I try the same creditionals that worked 2 days ago using the EWS utility and it fails to work. Any other ideas?

I'm sorry to hear that the 'incorrect credentials' issue with your Scan to Network Folder feature has stopped working again. I do believe that there is something on your computer or within the Network Folder you have been using that is causing the credential issues.

If it does, than this proves that the issue does not lie with the printer or the printer software or drivers. Rather, it's most likely the sharing issue that originally seemed to have caused this issue in the first place.

I have just checked all of your tenants under your subscription account and found that none of them have the Force a password reset after X days Action deployed and bound to the Post-Login Action flow.

I did have Password Retention as part of our flow, but because we use the tenant for our test servers I had to take it out as it prevented any user with an expired password from authenticating and would get caught in that loop described above.

You will need to adjust your authorization parameters for your login call to include 'prompt=login`. This will depend on the SDK you are using. Note that this will always force your users to re-authenticate.

I am using username/password via a database for logging in and not an IDP. I set the timeouts for my tokens to be very short and removed them from the browser cache then waited longer than needed for everything to expire and the endless loop still occurs.
