OnceVisio is associated with your Microsoft account, you no longer need the product key. It will always be linked to your account and you can re-download the app or manage your license from account.microsoft.com.

Locate the version of Visio you want to install and select Install. If you have multiple Microsoft 365products you may have to scroll through the list of products associated with this Microsoftaccount.

Find Visio from the list and choose your language and the 64-bit or 32-bit version, then select Install Visio. (If you have any other Microsoft 365 apps installed, make sure to select the same bit version for your Visioinstallation. What version of Office am I using?)

Microsoft HUP: You bought Visio for personal use through your company HUP benefit and have a product key, see Install Office through HUP (These steps apply to all stand-alone Microsoft 365 products purchased through HUP.)

I guess my question is if I were to call Microsoft or an authorized seller to purchase Visio 2019, and I told them I am running office 2016 standard (volume license), which version of visio would they provide me? Finding an answer to this has been harder than I thought. We DO NOT have 365. We have a version of Visio 2019 pro that will not install with office 2016 standard and we need to get refunded and know which version of visio to get that will install along with office 2016 standard volume license. Visio is not volume license, fyi.

We are getting the "Office installed with Click-to-Run and Windows Installer on same computer isn't supported" and cannot uninstall or remove the standard since that is the only available office license for this user. I have read the microsoft site on this issue but it really doesn't help me,

I do not have a volume license version of Visio 2019, the office 2016 standard is volume license. Why is it so difficult to have two Microsoft application installed on a Microsoft OS? There has to be a way, or a different version of Visio that will install along side a volume licensed 2016 standard copy. Would Visio 2016 standard work, since office is a standard version? This is starting to feel like an apple device/software...where nothing will work unless you do this, or install that, or uninstall this.

Can you at least tell me what version of Viso I CAN INSTALL with office 2016 standard? Upgrading isn't an option. We have office 2016 standard, that is it. We cannot upgrade. Can you tell me what version of Visio can install with Office 2016 standard. Please., I mentioned we do not have 365 in my post. I cannot upgrade and will not, I need to know which version of Visio I can install when I already have an existing Office 2016 standard installation. Pretty clear cut question that always never get a clear answer.

Thank you, but I see plenty of options to purchase online. The Visio 2019 was purchased online with a 3rd party vendor. An executive purchased the visio online. So you are saying if he exchanged the 2019 pro for 2016 standard, it would install with office 2016 standard, correct?

Also Microsoft has Visio Pro, Visio Standard, Visio Plan 1 and Visio Plan 2 products, here in this case we are unable to understand if "Visio for 365 16.0" is part of Office 365 since Office 365 includes "Visio for web" component in it, but Visio products are always purchased separately as it do not come within Office 365 or Microsoft 365 plans.

Reading the document below, I see Visio Plan 1 is Visio Web that I don't expect to leave any installer evidence. Then, you have the non-subscription versions that are the classical "on prem" versions, Standard or Professional... Finally, I see the Visio Plan 2 that seems to installable on your computer but that does not show any edition... wouldn't be these Vision For 365 16 not be installations of visio plan 2.

Thank you, I just went through all the posts in the provided link and understood what went wrong. In our case, we had two licenses created - Visio Pro and Standard, then applications Visio Pro and standard (different versions) were linked to respective licenses. Due to ARL update/change performed by Flexera, a new application "Visio for 365 16.0" was created in Feb/Mar and mapped to existing Visio evidences (different versions). This reduced the consumption of existing Visio Standard and Professional applications and licenses. Also reported "Visio for 365 16.0" application as unlicensed.

The product was first introduced in 1992, made by Shapeware Corporation. It was acquired by Microsoft in 2000.

Microsoft made Visio 2013 for Windows available in two editions: Standard and Professional. The Standard and Professional editions share the same interface, but the Professional edition has additional templates for more advanced diagrams and layouts, as well as capabilities intended to make it easy for users to connect their diagrams to data sources and to display their data graphically.[3][4] The Professional edition features three additional diagram types, as well as intelligent rules, validation, and subprocess (diagram breakdown).[5] Visio Professional is also offered as an additional component of an Office 365 subscription.[6]

On 22 September 2015, Visio 2016 was released alongside Microsoft Office 2016. A few new features have been added such as one-step connectivity with Excel data, information rights management (IRM) protection for Visio files, modernized shapes for office layout, detailed shapes for site plans, updated shapes for floor plans, modern shapes for home plans, IEEE compliant shapes for electrical diagrams, new range of starter diagrams, and new themes for the Visio interface.[7]

All of the previous versions of Visio used VSD, the proprietary binary-file format. Visio 2010 added support for the VDX file format, which is a well-documented XML Schema-based ("DatadiagramML") format, but still uses VSD by default.

Visio 2013 drops support for writing VDX files in favor of the new VSDX and VSDM file formats,[9] and uses them by default. Created based on Open Packaging Conventions (OPC) standard (ISO 29500, Part 2), a VSDX or VSDM file consists of a group of XML files archived inside a Zip file.[9] VSDX and VSDM files differ only in that VSDM files may contain macros.[9] Since these files are susceptible to macro virus infection, the program enforces strict security on them.[10]

While VSD files use LZW-like lossless compression, VDX is not compressed. Hence, a VDX file typically takes up 3 to 5 times more storage.[citation needed]VSDX and VSDM files use the same compression as Zip files.

Visio began as a standalone product produced by Shapeware Corporation; version 1.0 shipped in 1992. A pre-release, Version 0.92, was distributed free on a floppy disk along with a Microsoft Windows systems readiness evaluation utility. In 1995, Shapeware Corporation changed their name to Visio Corporationto take advantage of market recognition and related product equity. Microsoft acquired Visio in 2000, re-branding it as a Microsoft Office application. Like Microsoft Project, however, it has never been officially included in any of the bundled Office suites (although it was on the disk for Office 2003 and could be installed if users knew it was there[citation needed]). Microsoft included a Visio for Enterprise Architects edition with some editions of Visual Studio .NET 2003and Visual Studio 2005.[11]

Along with Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional, Microsoft introduced Visio Enterprise Network Tools and Visio Network Center. Visio Enterprise Network Tools was an add-on product that enabled automated network and directory services diagramming. Visio Network Center was a subscription-based website where users could locate the latest network documentation content and exact-replica network equipment shapes from 500 leading manufacturers.[12] The former has been discontinued, while the latter's shape-finding features are now integrated into the program itself.[13] Visio 2007 was released on November 30, 2006.

Microsoft Visio adopted ribbons in its user interface in Visio 2010.[14] Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook (to some extents) had already adopted the ribbon with the release of Microsoft Office 2007.[15]

There are no Visio versions 7, 8, or 9, because after Microsoft acquired and branded Visio as a Microsoft Office product, the Visio version numbers followed the Office version numbers. Version 13 was skipped due to triskaidekaphobia.[1]

On 7 May 2001, Microsoft introduced Visio Enterprise Network Tools (VENT), an add-on for Visio 2002 scheduled for release on 1 July 2001, and Visio Network Center, a subscription-based web service for IT professionals who use Microsoft Visio for computer network diagramming.[2] VENT was discontinued on 1 July 2002 due to very low customer demand.[3]

I am trying to bring in an org chart for under 300 people into PowerBI and am getting the error that there are too many shapes to display in PowerBI. I know the limit is 1,000. After some investigation, I found that for each 'shape' representative of a person, it adds 10 shapes to the layer. I have tried removing data I had imported and the photo box. only the latter made an impact, reducing from 10 shapes to 9 shapes per resource.
