Eating fruits before or after meals?

Fruits are very tasty, nutritious and healthy food. They have very low or no calories. They are an excellent substitute for snacks. Fruits should have a predominant place in your diet. They have been an important part of human diet for hundreds of thousands of years. Fruits can be eaten raw in their natural form before or after the meals. They can also be mixed with custard cream and eaten as fruit salad. They can be consumed in the form of juice or as splits. We all have eaten fruits these forms and combinations. But have you noticed at times they cause some discomfort, like an upset stomach or gas problems. So we have to think about eating fruits before or after meals.

Fruits contain
Natural sugar which is needed for energy
Vitamins and minerals
Antioxidants which increase your life span
Plenty of water
Fibers which are easily digestible
How to eat fruits
We have to analyze fruits and classify them according to their composition.
Limes, oranges are acidic in nature.
Watermelons have predominant water content.
Some contain large amounts of fiber (pomegranates, oranges, apples and grapes)
Some are predominantly pulpy (papayas, bananas, custard apples)
We have to decide on what fruit to eat and when to eat depending on the nature of the fruit. Most of the time it is better to eat a single fruit. Certain combinations of fruits and other foods may not go too well with our stomach. For example a citrus fruit may not go too well with yogurt. Wrong combinations of fruits and foods may cause a stomach upset.
When to eat fruits?
Fruits rich in fiber aid digestion. It is better to eat fiber rich fruits before meals. It would also be advisable to leave an hour’s gap between the meals and fruits. This is because some fruits do not go too well with vegetables and may cause a stomach upset.Fruits like watermelon contain more than 95% water.
As fruits hardly require any digestive enzymes, it is advisable to eat them alone. Combined with other hard to digest food, they stay in the stomach longer and rot. This might cause a stomach upset
Some fruits contain sugar. It is better that diabetics eat them with foods containing carbohydrates or proteins. Eating such fruits alone may lead to a sudden increase in blood sugar levels.
If you want to have a dessert gives a gap of at least half an hour. To the question whether to eat fruits before or after meals, the answer is before meals would be better.
