I think we have to get tough on spam comments appearing on the website
- this recent exchange of comments and a few sparingly spam comments
in the past is of definite concern to me as a Group Moderator of this
mailing list

I feel, in an effort to maintain a level of trust within the group and
hopefully keep our mailboxes lighter, we must adopt a strict ZERO-SPAM
policy and hence I am forced to enable moderation of all new
subscribers signing in, This will not effect the existing members and
new members who have shown a good level of participation shall be
allowed to post freely - this definitely means a little more added
work on my end, but its a move we have been forced to make.

Moderation will not mean editing comment or even the free flow of
ideas, moderation will be limited to spammer who try to misuse this
trust. I hope you all agree with the new move

All the best.

I think moderation is needed. This is a forum to discuss issues related to our country and not property.

I haven't explored Google groups. In  yahoo groups there is a option where new subscribers are required to Describe themselves. The moderator will then review their description and choose to allow or disallow. Description can include details about the interests and intention of joining.
