I'm trying to turn the current date into July 1st of the current year using DATEFORMAT(). I learned how to do that in MySQL from this question, and I hoped it would work similarly in Jaspersoft Studio- turns out date_format( curdate(), '%Y-07-01' ) doesn't translate into

I checked the Jaspersoft Studio User Guide, but it's not there. From the prompts on the screen, it makes a lot of sense, but I just can't figure out the "format pattern" that I'm allowed to apply, or even how to correctly write any format pattern at all. Also, this conveniently named question, DateFormat Pattern, didn't actually help at all. And community.jaspersoft.com/answers is kind of a joke in my opinion. When I checked it a couple days ago, it was filled with spam linking to live hockey games.

Thanks in advance. I'm sure this is a beginner level question, so I feel dumb asking it, and I feel like I'm wasting other people's space and time with it because I should already know. So I really appreciate your willingness to care.

you can find the source code for the DateTime functions directly in JR repository: you can see the code is fairly simple and relies on the Joda Time library. Therefore the second parameter you are trying to enter is a String, while the first one is a Date object.

Is there any way to get Jaspersoft Stuio to let me save my reports where I want to? Whenever I create a new report and choose "save", the only option I see is some hidden "MyReports" directory. Not only does this mean that there is no way to access the reports once saved (since there is no way to tell where they are), it also means that they are outside of the project structure of whatever project I am working on, and as such can not be included in my source controll.

To make matters worse, when I choose "open" I DO get a standard file browser - which means there is no way for me to open a report again once I have closed it. The only workaround that I have found is to export the report once I have created it. But even this has a problem - if I export a report that has a sub-report, and then try to open it again, I just get an error about "Linked resources are not supported by this application" Huh? I was just editing that report in this application and now you tell me you can't open the editor because it is not supported?

Studio is based on Eclipse. Eclipse is developed as a tool for multi-developer project. As such, it's saving the files locally in "Workspace" and allows developers to commit to maven/svn repositories using plugins.

Does anyone have an answer to the original question? I'm having the same issues. I try to save a stylesheet then add it to a new report, and it's nowhere to be found. I have even tried "save as", so I can force it to a location I can find, but when I try to add it to a new report I can't find it. I even tried copying the contents of the file into a text file, saving that, renaming it to .jrtx, and opening it, but jasper studio shows it as an empty file.

Anyone have any ideas on this? I now have a report design that I can't get to open at all because I just get the "Linked resources are not supported by this application" error. To add insult to injury, this is an older report that I originally created with iReport (which has none of the problems of Jaspersoft Studio, BTW), and I KNOW I didn't have any sub-reports in in. A fix is despreately needed.

EDIT: I realized there is a simple solution to ALL these problems: Go back to using iReport Designer rather than Jaspersoft Studio. It may not have been updated in a while, but at least it work properly. Quite annoying that the "offical" statement is that iReport designer is being replaced with a product that doesn't function as well.

I am working on a report which includes Subreports (actually it has two and I will want to add another). So I am practicing the upload process into CA PPM (14.3). The report was already published to CA PPM and I have uploaded the JRXML for the main report already. I need to now upload both of the sub-reports. I do realize that this should not be done via Jaspersoft Studio and have used the method described in another document here in the community. The main report was successful. I am now trying to load up the sub reports.

I have progressed to the next element (Controls & Resources) and scrolled down to see the sub reports and clicked "Add Now". This took me to the next screen to link to "Locate File Resource" where I browsed to my local copy of the JRXML I then clicked Next; At this point I received an error: " ! The file name does not match the expected pattern: ^.+$. The filename is: PH_PRJ_ProjectStoryboard_Issues_Subreport.JRXML. As you can see, there are no special characters nor spaces in the file name. The file path is: C:\Users\mictog\JaspersoftWorkspaceV2\MLT_TEST\EPMO Test 1\ (please note, there are spaces in the path; however, I also tried it in a path with no spaces and received the same error).

Edit: After further review, I "think" I understand that ^.+$ is a REGEX expression which looks for alphanumeric characters [0-9][a-z][A-Z] and the period "." only. This appears to exclude the underscore "_" used in the file name. However, this is not a new subreport and has been loaded up into our prod environment with this same name.

I will suggest you to upload report from jasper studio, and if you are SAAS Client then you need to connect to jasper server to studio by creating a new user in jasper via advance report link in CA PPM.

this will work fine with 14.3 as well, also while uploading Sub report from studio to jasper server you just need to provide jasper report path relative to jasper server not as per a local machine. if you are publishing report from jasper studio then jasper will create a report unit folder with main.jrxml(main report) followed by other elements associated with them, so relative path for these elements will be there ID(or name). However if you have uploaded sub report as main japer report in different folder then path will be as per jasper server.

Thank you. I do belive that I have successfully loaded my subreports. Unfortunately, I also believe I overlooked a different issue which is causing my overall report (when subreports are attached) from working (causes over 500 pages to be resolved). For that, I believe it is best that I open a new question (hopefully I will be able to include pictures).

I have seen similar issue, where sub report and page stuck and regenerate page n number of times and resolved this issue by increasing main report page height. This issue is related to height of report or any other band with sub report causing jasper report to create false pages.

I want to use a mysql connection in jaspsersoft studio. The mysql connector is not included, and needs to be added, as is described in various places, e.g. here. Unfortunatly, it seems to be common knowledge how to do this - no one describes how. I have been trying all sorts of locations for the mysql-connector-java-5.1.30-bin.jar file with no success. Can someone tell me the exact steps on how to add the mysql connector?I have jaspersoft studi 5.5.1, mysql-connector-java-5.1.30 on ubuntu 12.04.

Once you have downloaded a report template, you can use the visual editor of the Jaspersoft Studio to import and modify .jrxml report templates (e.g., remove some of the existing metrics or add new ones). Report templates in the .jrxml format that are imported to Jaspersoft Studio will look as shown:

What follows is an example of how one might modify a .jrxml report template. In this example, the column Case is removed from the out-of-the-box Agent Activity Report and the formatting/visual appearance of the report is changed.

In some versions of Jaspersoft Studio, Groovy scripting language jar file needs to be updated, as the one supplied with Jaspersoft is not always compatible with the BP formatter scriptlet. If during report compilation an error appears complaining of JRScriptletException class missing, a Groovy library matching the version used in Jaspersoft studio plugins folder must be downloaded from the official groovy distribution (use groovy-all-X.X.X.jar from "embedded" subfolder). The official groovy jar has to be renamed to have exact same name as the supplied groovy jar, as it uses "_" instead of "-" in the name.

There are ready to use default print templates provided within your Innovative system. However, you can also create custom print templates using 3rd party software. Innovative supports the following 3rd party software. Be aware that different versions of your system require using different versions of supported software:

This error is due to a signature issue with the installer, and it's alright to proceed with running the Jaspersoft Studio program installer. Another error you may see with Windows 8 or Windows 10 after initiating the installer is shown in the image below.

Most likely this is set to the default file path which can lead to some confusion when trying to locate print template files. However, it is possible to change the define "workspace". To change the "workspace" select "Switch Workspace" from the File menu within Japsersoft Studio.

It is advised to keep all the print template files together. The above image shows that the new workspace will be located within the Sierra Desktop App directory (C:\Sierra Desktop App\Print Templates\Jaspersoft). After selecting "OK" Jaspersoft Studio will switch over to the newly defined workspace.

The Properties View panel contains the properties for whatever element is selected. If you haven't clicked on a particular element, the properties are for the entire form (called a "Report" in Jasperstudio). You can change the size, margins, orientation and other properties of the form here.

There is also an editor available for some element properties such as a "Text Field". The following image shows the Properties View panel for the Text Field in a print template with the Expression Editor button outlined in red.
