Dear professor Omasits,
hello, my name is Jacopo and I am from Padua, near Venice, in Italy; I am a medical student at the University of Padua and I am now in the process of elaborating the thesis for my degree.
Since this work involves the study of a renal solute carrier protein, I have found your Protter tool very useful to approach topological features and more intuitively locate mutations: thank you very much for devising it and making it available on-line; of course I have already cited it in my references.
While I have had no trouble submitting a UniProt accession code, by now for more than one week I could not resort to the "by sequence" mode, which would really help me weigh the implications of two frameshift mutations. I have also stumbled upon incompatibility issues between my old PC and MiKTeX, so I have not been able to set up a local installation.
I already have the two sequences, one about 700 and the other about 1.000 residues long, but Protter is currently showing an "Error: Sorry, all Phobius servers seem to be offline..." notification.
Thus, I am contacting you to please ask if Protter's custom sequences calculation is projected to be back on-line anytime soon.
Thank you for your kind attention; best regards
