absolutely, most secondary schools are (within reason) a very similar size, they will more than likely offer one or two levels of detail and we are just looking for a ballpark figure, albeit a fairly accurate ballpark.

To add to this really quickly, do you have site drawings? Or can you get hold of them? Floor plans and measurements of all those floor plans will give you a clearer indication on how long a survey will take

They did a Wi-Fi Survey and Upgrade of the whole infrastructure (replaced ancient switches with HP switches, Sonic firewall, wi-fi system changed over to Meru) for a large Secondary School that I used to work for here in the UK.

The adapter fits into any laptop that has a standard USB interface. When used with Ekahau Site Survey, the adapter allows for quick site surveys on any 802.11ac as well as 802.11abgn network. Site surveys can be performed simultaneously for 2.4 and 5GHz frequency bands.

The adapter is supported on Windows operating system. To maximize measurement consistency between the SA-1 adapter and the previous-generation Ekahau NIC-300 adapter, Ekahau Site Survey supports dBmatch technology, which
minimizes the signal strength differences between the two
adapters.

The surveys are used to collect vital information about the wireless environment to understand where the placements of APs should be during pre-deployment or to identify areas of weakness within the wireless environment.

An Ekahau WiFi site survey is an effective and simple way of collecting data to understand the radio frequency behaviour in the area where the wireless network is or is going to be installed. It will reveal any dead zones or areas of interference which is vital to be able to build a solid network.

The main outcome of a Wi-Fi site survey is to determine the feasibility of implementing a wireless network in a specific area and finding the best spots for access points and other equipment like cables and antennas. With the help of an Ekahau site survey, your client will be able to decide what equipment to get and where to install it.

Many of our partners rely on us as a single point of contact for booking a certified Ekahau or AirMagnet Wi-Fi engineer. Finding a qualified WiFi engineer with access to the software required can be challenging and that is why Orion 247 has built a network of trusted and reliable Ekahau and AirMagnet site survey specialists around the world.

We add value by acting as a white label solutions partner and an extension to their existing team by assisting with the global reach of their wireless site surveys. Our partners can contact us instead of going out to multiple in-country suppliers for quotes for international WiFi site surveys, thus saving valuable time and money.

We have 40 stocking locations around the world, allowing us to dispatch parts and products quickly to your client or customer. If needed, we can quickly set up a forward stocking location where you need it.

hello community!
Today we carried out a site survey study on the site and we observed in the results that the hostname of the MR does not show, only the MAC, which complicates the tracking of the MR, I found a post that seemed interesting to me -LAN/Enable-AP-name-advertising/m-p/29045, some idea of how be able to solve this

Your current survey won't be fixed so you'll have to manually edit them.

Depending on the amount of SSID's you have and for what SSID you were surveying the MAC adresses of the AP's in dashboard will be almost the same as the ones in your survey.

Today I ran the test again and the problem has been resolved. We were able to get the name of the AP in the results. It was necessary to open a case with Meraki since that option is not available on the dashboard. Thank you very much for your contributions, they were very helpful.

Aironet IE is something from Aironet AP's, not Meraki AP's. I don't think they have added the feature.
If you are doing a survey with a tool like Ekahau you can edit the measured AP names and just use the mac address to compare to the dashboard AP's.

You do have to account for the last hex character counting up for each SSID. So you best search for the last 4 digits and ignore the last one.

Have you ever had to conduct a site survey for an outdoor area, it might be fine if only a very small area, clicking everywhere you stand/ walk, but imagine doing a city block or a mine site, this would be come very hard to manage. This is why site survey software normally supports a GPS option. This blog post will show how to utilise the GPS Receiver to conduct an outdoor Site Survey using Ekahau Site Survey Software.

One thing that I wish Ekahau would add to ESS is the ability to export the survey results and survey paths to mapping products like Google Earth Pro/ Nearmaps etc, so I can have better zoom and pan controls whilst viewing the survey. The 3D maps in Google Earth Pro also look cool when popping out of the coverage overlay and impress management. This is one feature that Airmagnet offers over ESS at this stage.

Hi Brewsurveyapp
You do not require internet access when conducting surveys with Ekahau and the GPS.
If you like I can pass on some details of your local Ekahau SE to give you some further information on their product

Note: By default, flex radios on 6E APs will default to broadcast in the 5 Ghz band. To utilize the 6 GHz band for site surveys on a Cisco Meraki AP (MR). The flex radio must be provisioned to operate in the 6 GHz band via RF profiles in the Meraki dashboard.

The local status page also provides info about channel utilization on current channels. It also describes the amount of time that both WiFi and non-WiFi (interference) are present on each of those channels, and provides a list of all the other access points (Meraki and non-Meraki) that it can hear on the same channel (under the Neighbors tab). These statistics can help provide a good estimate of the coverage provided by the access point, along with any interference that may be present across those channels.

Ekahau Cloud: Collaboration is key in network management, and Ekahau Cloud makes it a breeze. Sharing and analysing data across teams, regardless of location, ensures that everyone is on the same page and can make informed decisions quickly.

The significant value and long-term benefits of integrating Ekahau into site surveys clearly outweigh the initial investment, as reflected in the enhanced efficiency and reliability of Wi-Fi networks it helps shape. By utilising these sophisticated tools and adhering to best practices, professionals can not only navigate but master the complexities of modern Wi-Fi networks, ensuring they stay ahead in a tech-driven world where connectivity is paramount.

Ekahau Sidekick is a professional Wi-Fi device that provides highly accurate and standardized Wi-Fi measurements by using two Wi-Fi radios and a spectrum analyzer to achieve expert-level Wi-Fi site surveys and troubleshooting across your network.

Ekahau offers its many Wi-Fi solutions through Ekahau Connect, a single, all-in-one suite of Wi-Fi performance software. Using Ekahau Connect, businesses will have all the wireless site survey tools they need to customize a strong, solid network connection that meets all the wireless needs of the company and handle any analyzing and troubleshooting once the systems are in place. This is done using six tools that handle diagnostics, optimization, analysis and surveying and a convenient cloud feature for remote collaboration.

Ekahau Pro is the software accompaniment to the Sidekick. Using the information Sidekick provides, Ekahau Pro can render full 3D plans that offer your optimal network specifications down to the materials used for the walls and flooring. Providing an accurate picture of expected capacity, network coverage and performance, the preinstalled guidelines used by Ekahau Pro come from relevant vendors such as Cisco, Skype and Polycom, making it easy to meet industry standards. Networks in operation will benefit from the troubleshooting tools included in Pro, providing an in-depth review of common issues that could be plaguing your connections.

To take the Sidekick on the go, Ekahau Survey is a mobile app designed to help gather the necessary information as you move during the site survey. Optimized for iOS, this app allows you to pair the Sidekick with your iPhone or iPad and simply walk your device through the site being surveyed. The mobile device will recognize access points and plot them on the site map, generating your analysis and showing the results using easy-to-read heatmaps. The data you collect is auto-saved on your mobile device and synced to the Cloud to make it readily available to share with relevant parties.
