Ok I think that the Python intro (the tool part) went OK and it looks like there is some interest.
I want to thank you all for last week. I had a lot of fun.

What I was thinking of covering next Tuesday is
-  Built in types http://docs.python.org/release/2.6.5/library/stdtypes.html : numbers, strings, list, tuples dictionary
- methods to apply on those data type
- functions and how easy they are
- importing modules
- stuff I which someone had told me at the start
-- pretty printing complex data http://docs.python.org/library/pprint.html
-- mutable and immutable data type and very subtle data type  http://docs.python.org/reference/datamodel.html

Come with questions :)

I getting ready for my vacation to Italy. If there is still interest I can cover more subjects, such as using Python to write out data to file or parse log files, when I come back early November

good places
http://wiki.python.org/moin/ has good list of resources such as tutorial etc.

Why is Python the way it is?  a video presentation by Guido van Rossum;

And now some hardware

Cheers
