Agree with James's vision regarding (a) home base. (b) rent public spaces as needed.
Regarding (b)- might I suggest: Summer Membership Promotion.
Rent table at Fairs, Markets.
1/2 table for one solder station and instructor to do one-on-one mini workshops (cheap price to encourage participation, short 10-15 minutes/person.)
1/2 table for demo items, Protoshed pamphlet and "talker"- someone to do promotion of us and upcoming course.
There are numerous fairs, bazaars, etc. throughout the summer- it could be a great opportunity to promote our group.
Example locations:
Farmers' Market: Saturday mornings- tables $25 Indoors, $20 Outdoors (tent). I know the coordinator and can check out their interest.
Flea Market at CLB Armoury, Harvey Road. Sunday Afternoons. Tables $20 (?)
Have Fall ideas too.
Regarding solder workshop (ATC or other location)- have looked at David's suggestion and will post comments Sunday or Monday. Kits look quite good.
Have contacted Craft Council and am following up a suggestion from Executive Director Anne Manual. Will post or bring to Tuesday's meeting results when I get them.
Regards,
Catherine

Sounds cool! My Mom does a lot of stuff with the various fairs as she manufacturers and sells crafts, I'll ask if she has any suggestions too if you'd like.

I usually tag along, and the CLB sale I'm pretty familiar with. Typically its church-going folks, usually older, selling merch in a flea market-esque fashion. Not sure it'd be the best outlet, but I guess with proper promotion it could work. Great location otherwise, lots of table space for cheap and outlets galore on the walls.
