Occasionally I'll get a Xen VM that is in some kind of bad state. For
instance, ps fails:

root@idms-dhcp:/users/ezkissel# ps -aux |grep dhclient
Warning: bad ps syntax, perhaps a bogus '-'? See
http://procps.sf.net/faq.html
xrealloc: realloc(-2147483648) failedCannot allocate memory

I can't view system logs or check on services, etc.

This has happened intermittently since at least GEC22 and it is usually
resolved by recreating slivers. This happens on both my custom images
and the default Ubuntu.

This might simply be a bug in older Ubuntu distributions. Could be
caused by the number of groups 'geniuser' is in?

http://askubuntu.com/questions/258180/why-does-running-ps-result-in-a-cannot-allocate-memory-error

After a an 'apt-get upgrade' on one of my images, the issue is gone.
Would it be possible to get the default Ubuntu image updated?

thanks,

The default image is 14.04 at this point - are you not getting it?

Nope.

ezkissel@idms-user:~$ lsb_release -a

All I ask for in the rspec is emulab-xen sliver type.

In retrospect I'm probably wrong that the default has changed.  That being said there's a 14.04 image that you can use that should be advertised by every rack.
