Hello,

I think when you work with Protocoder you are running in a "real environment" ...

your "script" has full access to spend all your money in sms, calls, downloads ...

All programmer make mistakes ... If I'm not wrong, this is not a good scenario to work.

Are there any 'mock system' to avoid those problems?

Your software is a good idea but without security it never enter in a "professional area"

Thanks in advanced,

Enric

Hello Enric,

Thanks for raising the question.

  1. I am concerned about security, but I haven't had any time to tackle that and that's one of the reasons I didn't want to include Protocoder in Google play :)
  2. Could you elaborate more in the 'mock system'? Im interested to hear your ideas
  3. I guess "professional area" is difficult to define. I consider my self a professional in many things and I do use Protocoder for professional work :)

The intention behind Protocoder is to let people experiment, prototype and tinker using these devices.
I still use other environments and frameworks for other types of work. Android Studio with the barebones Android API is great for making distributable apps, but its really frustrating when I want to do more "creative" stuff. My plan is not to replace or compete with the Android API, Cordova, or other great frameworks, it's just another alternative for tinkers and it might never enter the "professional area".
Thanks for your question and love to hear alternatives and solutions. Just because of your question I thought It might be cool include an option to disable certain type of capabilities. So you can be sure that if you make mistakes nothing will explode :)  Kind of a detailed "safe mode" that can disable this or that.

Cheers

Victor

Hello Enric,

There is now two versions of Protocoder, one without Call and Sms permissions. I hope is a little step towards a better user choice!

Cheers
