Dear Fellow members,

 

 

Thank you for all your nomination.  We have successfully gone through the process of nomination and communication with the candidates. Please kindly find the list of nominees as below.

 

 

Nominees of Club Officers  July 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014

President: Miumiu WANG

 

Vice President Education: Alice YANG, Wizard ZHOU

 

Vice President Membership: Lynn LIN

 

Vice President Public Relation: Andrew LIN

 

Secretary: Vincent Wu

 

Treasurer: Lina LI

 

Sergeant at Arms: Car LIAN

 

Every nominee is allowed two minutes to speak on your own behalf. Please prepare for it.

 

Only the officer leaders are nominated and elected during our election meeting, and each leader would build up their own team by themselves, during the election meeting if time permits and after.

 

Election procedures

Please read carefully and make preparations, especially when you are nominees or nominators or seconders. (At least you need to remember step 1, 2, & 3.)

The election sequence would be President, VPE, VPM, VPPR, Secretary, Treasurer and SAA.

竞选职位的顺序为：President-VPE-VPM-VPPR-Secretary-Treasurer-SAA

1.  The chair accepts nominations for the office of president. A member of the nomination committee should nominate the committee’s candidate(s) for the office.

（以会长为例)主持人接受會長職位的提名單。由提名委員會委員報告委員會提名的候選人。。

2.  The chair asks for seconding speeches. Any member may stand and second the nomination and give a short speech (usually 2 minutes) on the qualifications of the nominee.

主持人要求附議演說 (Seconding speeches) 。任何會員都可以起立對候選人的資格發表附議演說 (通常不超過2分鐘) 。附議演說最好依候選人姓氏字母順序發

表。

3. The chair asks the nominee if he/she will accept the position if elected, then allows the nominee 2 minutes to speak on his/her behalf.

主持人詢問被提名人是否同意當選後接受此職位，請被提名人發表二分鐘演說。

4.  The chair asks for additional nominations for the office of president(Refer to the NOTE below). If others are nominated, which means there is Floor Candidates, then repeats steps 2, 3 and 4 for each nominee.

主持人詢問是否另有會長職位提名人選。如有，各被提名人依步驟2、3及4項進行。

5.  Close the nominations for the office of president.

提動議結束會長提名，需附議及表決。

6.  Everyone casts their ballots.

請會員投票。

7.  2 people tally the votes.

推舉二位人員計算選票。

8.  The chair announces the winner. If the vote is tied, the election is determined by a flip of a coin.

宣佈當選人。得票相同時，可以擲銅板方式決定。

9.   Then we will go through the same procedure for all the other offices.

其他職位依相同程序進行。

 

Note: 

Floor Candidates   Any member, if you want to nominate someone for a certain position, you can stand up and give your nomination when the chair asks for additional nominations. And there should also be a seconder to second the nomination. 

That means: if someone wants to be elected for a position, he/she needs at least one person to nominate him/her and another person to second the nomination. Otherwise, he/she wouldn’t get to the voting step and can’t be voted. If you wish to be elected, make sure there is someone to nominate you and another to second.

 

Service is the key elements of leadership and responsibility, when these potential officers are standing out with their hearts to serve our members and make PRO a better place, we—everyone of you, our dear members—also shoulder your responsibility, obligation and privilege to serve this club, by going home to attend the election, voice out, and vote!  It’s simple but very important, because your voices and votes count!
