This group was started to help organize protests about Google's
compromise of its Don't Be Evil ethic. By censoring its search results
in China, Google has struck a painful blow against human rights, and
may have tarnished its image, brand, and leadership potential in the
process.
This is NOT a group for people who hate Google. Instead, it is a group
for people who love Google, but are disappointed in its recent actions.
We are citizens, shareholders and Google users who are concerned that
by compromising its principles, Google may become an instrument of evil
rather than a model of good corporate behavior.
We believe that Google can change the world for the better while
simultaneously making its shareholders wealthy, and that this is good.
But Google needs to hear from us, the concerned citizens, shareholders
and users, to know that we have high expectations -- and we're
watching.
Google has already changed the world for the better, largely by
adhering closely to its values even when to do so means that short-term
profits must be sacrified. This long-term approach has served Google
well, and has changed the world for the better.
More information will be posted in coming days about ways you can get
involved in communicating your opinions on Google's actions.
