Guys:

I supposed that our group should have a clear Chinese name for further
investigation as a team. Accordingly, I would like to propose "仓岭复照"
as a candidate which can be translated into “Congnian Fuchau”, meaning
“仓前福州”, if my Foochow Romanized spelling is right .

The history and architectures of Cangqianshan is the symbol of the
mordern times of our city. Furthemore, whatever Fuchau, Foochow, Ho-
chau, the accents are so close to the pronouncation of “复照“, from the
ancient poem "返景入深林,复照青苔上", which means the sun shining again , or
could be explained that we return here and try to revive the lost
history.

I wonder you will like this name. How is you opinion?

仓前福州,in Foochow Romanized is "Chong-seng Hok-ciu".

I agree with this name.

Good Good. I support this. Otherwise, I would also be keen to call
something like to see some meaning related to "Lost Fuzhou". But 仓岭复照
sounds good to me. Very nice ideas.

By the way, how are you guys doing? Have you heard any thing about
Cangqian? I heard there will be a significant demolition in Cangqian.
I am not sure if it is true or not. And how are they going to do with
those historic-european style buildings?

Hopefully they do get the solution right. Otherwise, I have nothing to
miss in Fuzhou to be perfectly honest.

Dear Jimmy,

I believe you did receive months ago my (French language)  article on ChuanZheng XueTang construction by Giquel and its (first) destruction by Admiral Courbet squadron on the day of the Min River Battle August 24, 1885.

I'll be glad to e-forward again this article if useful to anyone interested.

You may remember the  3 dozens rare photos' large modern digital prints I & Du LiYan gave to the shipyard museum in 2006. I am now working on a trove of similar x250+  (year 1870 roughly > 1885) photos relating to FuJian, FuZhou, ChuanZheng XueTang, Giquel, Chinese Students in Europe, etc.). Together with my own set of Thomson's photos of FuJian, there is an opportunity for a rather extensive impressive exhibition & catalogue. As long as the detailed identification work is not completed, I prefer this project to remain confidential inside "Protect FooChow Google Group". I may travel to FuZhou in the coming weeks but my schedule is not yet frozen.

Best regards to all,
Rene.

Hi Rene

As a matter of fact, I have received nothing from you. Did you attach
files in an email? I will be more than happy to read it.

I can personally guarantee the confidentiality of the document you
mentioned. However, I recommend not to leave the file in this place.

Regards

Jimmy

Thank you Fasten, it's a very suitable and artistic name. Maybe we could think about designing a logo for our team based on this name.
