Welcome my dear protaggers. I hope you haven't killed me yet if you
suddenly see yourself subscribed to this beta edition of Protagonist
Google group.

Anyway, you've got 1 GB diskspace to spare. Just a few questions. SO
far, have you enjoyed gmail? Who invited you? And do you prefer yahoo
mail to gmail?

Wee okay I joined :] I got my gmail invite from Tontamoo (Janice), an
azn-bish hostee. Definitely prefer it over yahoo, which I rarely, if
ever, used. Plus, it had a stupid username from when I was 15.

Yahoo groups are even confusing to read.

If you had the email option, all replies will be threaded in one
reply. Easier to followup too.

Hello! Thank you Lauren for inviting me to the group!

I love Gmail, I only used Hotmail and hated it. Daynah invited me
*hugs*.

I used to moderate Mailinglists on Yahoo with ~ 800 members and a lot
of posts a day, it was a mess! This is so much better. I love the tree
feature, or the conversation feature in general, it is awesome.

I never really used my Yahoo! Mail, just the games part of Yahoo! is
really all I use. :P But from what I heard from numerous people, Yahoo!
Mail is having some glitches with their system, some having only 4MB or
6MB of space even though they're told they have 100MB. And the new
layout sucks. :P

I'm really liking gmail. :0) it's awesomely cool. google groups looks
pretty cool too. leslie invited me, and i prefer it 100x to yahoo mail.

I'm just getting used to the layout now... I know that having all
replies to emails in one bunch is probably useful, I'm just not used to
it yet!!!

I wa invited by miss nadiney. I havent used yahoo mail in AGES so I

It's different, but I like it a LOT better than YahooMail. Lots of

Oh, and this is Josh/Truant from the Protag boards...if you didn't

Enjoyed it so far, I like the simplistic design. Yet despite the
simplicity the amount of extra features compared to other free mail
systems is amazing. As for who invited me, well you did. I've never
used yahoo mail, so I can't compare it. Though comparing against MSN, I
like gMail, nice and simple.

hey is there a way to view a members directory? like with links to
everyone's profiles? i looked at the protagonist google group page and
there wasn't a link to one. i'm curious who everyone is, e.g., i don't
know who fiveaces is :P sorry :P

fiveaces is Mark H. , one of the pioneer protagger but like most
protaggers, drift in and out of the board and chat. And just reappears
one day. Hehe.

There are no member profiles yet. Only mods can view the members. As
of this time, there are 34 members and 2 invited members haven't
approved of the invitation . Everyone uses a gmail account except for
Chris A.

avoid the bots from harvesting email addresses in their google groups.
It looks weird but not too annoying .

Found out there are ATOM feeds, only problem is my RSS aggregator (RSS
Bandit) seems to be garballing the damn feed up. No idea whether fault
on RSS Bandit side of things, or teething problems for this
google-groups-beta.

You can, actually. Click on the "more options" next to a person's name,
and then click on Reply. You get to delete any of the quotes...
basically editing the whole "post". And you can make it look like a new
reply.

Oh, and the non-verifieds won't be getting anything in their emails...
sobby. :( I'm not getting any notifications either, even though I
subscribe as Individual Emails.

Roffle. My own cousin chose Grace for her baptismal name, doncha just
LOVE azn originality? :D

It doesn't bug me, heh. Just an observation, because my full name is
obviously pretty darn long compared to just plain 'Eliza'. But I use
it in emails because I never know when I'm going to have to send/reply
a profesional-ish email about a freelance job or something.

(My last name means 'king', btw. :)

Nope, Lauren, tried that. It doesn't work, there's no link to resend
the verification email.

And yea, we do get invites (but I think it's random... a lot of people
haven't gotten invites in their Gmail yet), but not emails from the
subscribed groups.

ok, on a more serious note, i'm really really happy with gmail AND
with the google groups thing, so cheers to lauren and co. for setting
this up.

BUT i wish google groups had a Members listing, like yahoo groups
does, so you can see who the heck everybody is. cuz again, i have no
clue who ppl are. ah well.

the inbox auto refreshes:P It makes me almost feel like i'm chatting

i agree. It would be nice to know who is who. i can't tell by the
